Went on steam train cream tea trip, donโ€™t expect to see Derbyshire country side as line is mainly bordered by trees with the odd glimpse of country side, still enjoyable though, staff happy and helpful, as someone else mentioned parking was a nightmare, asked to arrive twenty minutes early which means earlier trips have not returned so full car park. We upgraded to the private compartment which I thoroughly recommend.

We went on a steam train trip on a rainy day. Lots of free parking at the station and the cafe/bar was open although we didn't go in. There was four of us and we had a cabin to ourselves so had a picnic inside, would recommend to anybody for a nice day out

Had the best morning on the Christmas train with our family and little boy. It was 2ยฝ hours, which I was a little worried about as he has no attention span, but they kept him so entertained the whole way it went so quick, it was fabulous! Thank you so much for such a great, festive morning!

I hope they push this place as itโ€™s such a delightful little railway line and the staff really help make you feel welcome.

When you get off here, you can sometimes change trains and ride up to Ravenstor which is a 1 in 27 incline. There is also the Pullman Buffet Car.

Make sure youโ€™ve got time to wander around a Wirksworth.

I canโ€™t say I really enjoyed my visit to the EVR. They seem a little unenthusiastic about the whole thing and incredibly disorganised - poor timetable adherence and zero on train announcements. Moreover the line to duffield from Wirksworth is fairly uninteresting and featureless.

You trundle from Wirksworth for a few hundred metres then stop to fiddle with the crossing. But once you get going it is a pleasant 8mile trip through beautiful countryside to Duffield. Staff are really friendly too, which is always a bonus. Overall, a brilliant day out with lots to do if the incline is running, but the stations need a bit of attention.
