In my line of work I stay away in hotels and inn's on a regular basis and over the years have stayed in many covering the length and breadth of the country. I have to say that The Lazy Otter is right up there with the best.||I can usually tell what a place is going to be like when I first walk in but this time I could tell from outside that it would be really good and I wasn't wrong. I walked into the bar area to check in and was met by a very nice, older gentleman who went through the checking in procedure very quickly. I spotted that there was a choice of real ales available which is always a big tick in the box for me. I was shown to my room, which is always a nice gesture. The room was tastefully decorated, had a lovely bed and proper wooden furniture. The bathroom and shower were also good. I went back down to the bar and ordered an ale and it was spot on. The evening meal menu was varied and very competitively priced. My meal arrived and it was beautiful, really well cooked and presented. I had to try a few more pints, just to make sure that they were as good as the first, and they were.||When you work away and stay in hotels on your own, some can be quite lonely but not this place. The staff are so friendly and engaging that I was able to stay sat on a bar still for the rest of the evening. The following morning I went down to breakfast and had a table in the restaurant overlooking the marina and with the sun just starting to break through it was very picturesque and peaceful. The breakfast is cooked to order and you can help yourself to juice and cereals while you wait.||I need to find a reason to have another meeting in the area so that I can visit again. For me it just ticked every box.

My Daughter book a few days stay at this wonderful lodge for a special birthday. Its was a great size for all six of us and everything you needed in the kitchen and bathrooms. The hot tub and sauna were amazing and if we even ran out of anything help was only a phone call away. Pub was great and everyone we met was very friendly. To be honest I fell in love with this place and would go back.

What a lovely place to have a long lazy weekend in. Owner was so helpful from start to finish. Lodge itself is gorgeous with added bonus of a hot tub outside and indoor sauna, brilliant. Loads of room, we took two dogs with us who enjoyed great walks along the towpath. Pub/restaurant 5 minute walk. Went to Ely, what a beautiful city loads to see and do. We were very unfortunate with the weather wet and cold the whole 4 days, but we had come prepared with wellies etc but the lodge was warm and cosy. The owner had even put up a Christmas tree which was a lovely gesture. We will definitely return and have recommended to friends and family.

We stayed in lodge 46, it was very clean, and spacious. The lounge had a good large TV, although I think the setttees need replacing. The kitchen is also well appointed, including a dish washer (do remember to bring your dish washer tablets). Also the heating is very efficient.||Security to get into the complex is second to none, requiring car access via two gates.||NOTE: There is NO wifi, the advertising needs to be changed (I alway bring our own router when we go away, so this was not an issue for us.||He did have a problem with the hot tub being way to hot (43 degrees), however a neighbour popped over and helped us turn down the temperature down,||BEWARE this is a split level lodge, there are 4 steps between the loung/dinning and the kitchen, so disabled or people infirm on their feet should look else where.||Final, it says you overlook the river and the marine, there is a large bank between the lodge and river, yes you can see the top of the boats, but you aren’t really over looking it.||All in all, I would be happy and recommend others visit, so long as they are aware of the points mentioned above

Poor customer service and lodge is NOT luxury as described. I am currently awaiting a reply to an email I sent when we returned from a stay at 59 in June. Won’t go into it all on here but have had no substantive reply just a load of excuses as to why she can’t reply. Some major safety concerns (no smoke alarm which is actually against the law) and the lodge itself has seen better days. I believe they are up for sale so I am not holding my breath that I will get any proper response. Extremely disorganised company and very unprofessional. Never dealt with an organisation like it before! Charging 5 star prices for 2 star service and standard of lodge.

Stumbled on this place during a long car journey after looking for places that were good for dogs. Really friendly staff and the dog even got given a sausage! Food great with good veggie options. Had a falafel burger and it was lovely. Garden area next to a river with a longer walk option along the water side. Will definitely come back if in the area.

Spending 4 nights here with husband and 4 friends. Lovely accommodation with hot tub . And fully equipped kitchen though local pud serves brilliant food . ||Easy for Ely and Cambridge.||Lovely clean accommodation nice balcony and BBQ provided . Right by the river , very quiet and peaceful . Feels secure , though it is gated. Very pleasant stay.||||Nice bright / light aspect .

Fabulous meal Rib eye steak chips salad and mushroom. £19.99 cooked to perfection excellent meal, and was charged £9.99 50% off. Staff very polite and helpful. Outside beer garden over looking boats on the river.
