We dropped into The Bale House after a wonderful afternoon walk with the family.
There is beautiful scenery and many interesting paths to choose from. The park is very well maintained and offers plenty of parking. Unfortunately, the parking is not free, but I guess some of the money goes towards maintaining the place.
You could easily spend the whole day exploring and enjoying the stunning views.
We also grabbed a spot of lunch that was pretty good. It is not cheap for what you actually get, but nevertheless, it was reasonable given that it is the only place where you can get food and drink.
It is a great place to visit for the entire family and dogs if you have any.
I definitely would revisit it in the future.

Beautiful location at the country park, glad there is finally a spot for grabbing some beverages at this honey pot. But service is a little haphazard here. The staff are friendly but the organisation is not the greatest.
It will do in a location with no other options, just don’t expect too much.

Lovely as always to visit and walk enjoying the views, a shame the cafe had staffing issues with piles of crockery stacked precariously on tables by queue for toilets and counter. On the bonus side the parking machines both out of order again.

Very disappointing place ! My friend and I went there for a coffee and a snack , the cake was very nice but the coffee was bland, week and Luke warm ! The seating is really bad , they are metal garden seats which are cold in the winter and very hard . The place has no sound deadening so any noise is magnified many times and there were only 10 or so people there at the time so I can’t imagine how loud it would be if it was full in the summer! In my opinion not very much thought has gone into the design and aesthetics etc . We will not be back !

Beautiful views, nice long strolls. Take a picnic and enjoy some fresh air with friends and family. Great for dog walking too. Many parking places in different areas, benches and tables plotted around. Wooded areas to explore too with wildlife.

Extensive area to walk, called the Firehills locally, because of the yellow gorse flowers.
My first visit of the year today, there has been extensive removal of areas of gorse, council vandalism, or to encourage the growth of heather?
Great place for bird watching, dog walking, picnicking etc.

The car park is a tad expensive, the council just loves to milk visitors, sadly no where for refreshments at present.
Update. I visited the Bale House for the first time, and had an enjoyable bacon roll, and tea. Very enjoyable
Table service, now the centre is open, this could be a gold mine for the council
The visitor centre part had some good information about the area.
