Great bridge to cut out traffic. I forgot to pay four days ago so I did it online today, rang them up after payment to double check and they confirmed a PCN hasn't been issued and the payment should clear the balance. Top customer service when it was my error.

I paid for 2 crossings and received a fine!.Apparently the helpful staff (not) said "its because you didn't click the box that says hire car and you shouldn't use online payment, you should have called us!", REALLY! Nowhere on the online payment does it say hire car notwithstanding the fact I paid and have the receipts they want me to pay the fine and claim it back!. The signs say "pay online". Utterly pathetic and they need to rethink how they advertise payment details. My solicitor honestly laughed when I told her, just waiting for a response from Mersey(Dick Turpin)flow. NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE IN MY HUMBLE OPINION.

They don’t make the website work correctly for disabled users. I tried to get it sorted twice but yet 6am an enforcement officer demanding nearly £800. Regardless of evidence of my mother dying when I was crossing and having a disabled badge and they still continued charging me triple the amount. It’s disgusting and vile how disabled people get treated when trying to get free crossings. And they were going to clamp my car, knowing full well well I am sick and disabled. Just money grabbing. I will be attaching a petition for other disabled people having the same problems later. Come back for updated link.

Well done, Halton Borough Council — what a genius scheme to rake in £27.40 by ambushing drivers. Assume everyone should know they have to pay online only to cross your bridge. A masterclass in daylight robbery.

I received a penalty notice on behalf of my son which I paid immediately(£27.40). When my son returned he had paid the toll fee within the 24 hours and has proof of transaction. Therefore cost of crossing £29.80. Well done Mersey Gateway Bridge! No stars really.

Unfortunately I’m quite forgetful, and so even as I cross the bridge and impress on myself that I must not forget to pay later, I’ve only got a 50% success rate.
On the 4 occasions I’ve crossed it, I’ve failed to pay in time twice 😒.
I can only think it’s a deliberate ploy to generate more revenue, it shouldn’t be allowed, it doesn’t slow things up that much to have toll gates like the M6 toll. But, of course, it would be a wasted opportunity to rip off your customer.

While the bridge might be nice & pretty, its ridiculous.
The first time I went across it there was no signs till after I had crossed, I got a fine & disputed it which went well But since I hardly use it I got the app & just a few weeks ago they took £4.40 off me even though app is set for me to pay as I cross plus I Hadn't Even Been Near This Stupid Bridge! I've managed to get the refund
Definitely a scam payment system from the council & government!!
Either make it like the mersey tunnel payment system or scrap the payment (which won't happen as they just want money)

This should be stopped. It is so easy to cross this bridge and forget to pay the toll online (which is deliberately complex). You only have one day and then they rake in 22 quid for each miss. It’s not as though anyone deliberately tries to get out of paying. It is just a money making scheme inflicted by the authorities with no democratic approval. This is modern day King John. One day Robin Hood will come for you!
