We had an outstanding experience at the Shan gri la property of cornish gems. The location, functionality and interiors were beautiful. I highly recommend cornish gems for there service and selection of properties. I found the price on par with many airbnb properties which did have this level of service.

Stated in their Cob Barn property – Lovely property, well decorated, in great grounds with a well-equipped kitchen and welcome pack. Quiet location, well connected by road for nearby locations.

The Cob Barn is very close to a neighbouring holiday let - during our visit it was not let, but if this was occupied the property may feel more overlooked.

I booked on the basis of an EV charger being available which was not functional at this property. I was able to use a charger at one of their neighbouring properties - only 1 out of 4 chargers on the estate was functioning during my stay. Cornish Barns don’t provide the charging cost upfront - during my stay the charge was Β£0.64 kWh for a slow charger making this more expensive than nearby public chargers.

We stayed at the Calf house near Padstow in Cornwall in April .
On arrival we found the location perfect, in the countryside, but close enough to the coast and amenities.
The cottage was beautiful.
Well equipped and clean ,we were really happy .
It also had a hot tub for the evening which was a huge bonus to relax after hiking in the day .
The food package included was also really good ,we were really pleased with the company and the care and would definitely return next year.
Thanks Gems

For what you pay for, the house is no way near equivalent. First of all they described the house with a washing machine and when we arrived it was broken and they did not notify us. The house is described as wheelchair accessible and only a few rooms are accessible. the pool and garden are completely inaccessible, badly advertised. The garden is very big but hard to reach and there is nothing to do in the garden. Some garden furniture would be great up there or some garden activities, otherwise it is a waste of land. The balcony is fantastic with a great view of the sea, if the weather is good. Cornish gems guidebook is clear and helpful but the property needs upgrading.

Outstanding Views!

What a wonderful, homely retreat, perched on the hillside overlooking Mawgan Porth beach and adjacent to the coastal path. The property is spotless, modern and very well equipped with all you need for a family holiday.

Just the ticket if you are looking to get away from it all. With perfect weather, we made good use of the kitchen/BBQ and enjoyed our evenings in the garden / terrace area, watching the tide come in and the sun go down (much needed after walking along the coast line or popping down to the beach which is quite steep in places). Beds are very comfy with fresh linen and towels and the decor throughout befits this quirky seaside property.

We were sad to learn, however, that the house which was designed and built by a local man for his family in the 1950s is to be demolished soon to make way for an ultra modern building. There is quite a bit of property development going on around the area and some pretty outstanding properties emerging and we did have to put up with a little bit of drilling and noise from builders at 2 or 3 nearby properties during the day but it didn't disturb us too much. This will no doubt we all complete in a few weeks.

A real shame, because some people do still want to see the "traditional Cornwall" and stay in cottages like this.

Take a good pair of walking shoes. Mawgan Porth beach front has a pub, some nice eateries where we sampled the fresh mussels and fish, small mini-market with local produce. However, be warned, most of the shops are clearly making up for lost business over the last couple of years and everywhere is a bit on the pricey side. We stayed at St Ives the week before and this was the case there so if you're holidaying in Cornwall this summer, do bear in mind you'll need deep pockets if eating out! However, there are the usual supermarkets if you're happy to hop back in the car and fill up for the week within 20 minutes drive.

The garden gate leading to the coastal path was the best bit for us - we loved the 4 mile walk to Bedruthan Steps which is a must and wasn't too strenuous (although beware there are some steep parts). The views are amazing and the surrounding July heather and wild flowers are simply stunning - there is a couple of cafes awaiting you on the cliff top when you get there so you can grab a refreshment before you make your return journey.

PS: dog owners - this is a great place for you and your pooch as the beach is open all year round to them and restaurants even stock "dog dinners"!

Fantastic holiday company to deal with especially Lucy who goes above and beyond. The house we are staying in is complete luxury and we have booked with Cornish Gems again for next year before heading home.

Dear Sirs

We wanted to provide some feedback on our recent stay (10-17 Sept 2022) at Talland View with Cornish Gems.

On initial review on the property on arrival we wondered when the property had been used last due to the level of dust on surfaces and cobwebs present in the lounge. The cleanliness is not up to the standards we are used to, please see attached images showing dust on surfaces, blinds and visible hairs etc on the floors and 'clean' bedding once the green fleece had been removed.

We were also very disappointed to experience noise and disturbance from the building work going on next door, especially as we had taken the time to call prior to booking to enquire about the note on the property about building work. We were assured that there had been no negative feedback about the building or noise and that the vehicles would only be using the the road for access. We question again when was the property last used as on several mornings we were woken shortly after 7am to lorries arriving before the site was open and parking outside the flats, engine's running, music playing. delivering building equipment and scaffolding. We also experienced drilling and general building noises, again after being told we would not hear any drilling noise. We ended up sleeping with the windows closed to minimise the disturbance but with the return of warm weather during our stay this was not ideal. Please see attached images. Given this level of disturbance to what we had expected to be a relaxing holiday, we would have expected the property to have been heavily discounted. Have Cornish Gems themselves visited the property in recent months?

The Guidebook on the property stated specific instructions of when and where the rubbish needed to be left, what wasn't included was the code to access the area for the rubbish bins. Instead the instructions said that we would receive a message with the code, this did not come and instead we had to contact the emergency number requesting it. A message was left saying they were trying to find the code.... Surely this should be information easily available and we certainly shouldn't have to go out of our way to chase for this. I ended up having to taken the rubbish out in the rain and dark due to when I finally received the code.

We do not generally like to complain but given we have received an email asking for feedback we felt we should share our experience. Sadly our first experience of Cornish Gems has not been all positive which is a shame and it will unfortunately make us consider whether to use the service again.

Best wishes.

Mr D. Goodwin
