We had THE most wonderful afternoon at Mayfield. We went on a 30 minute Alpaca walk with Madge, Monty and our guide Peter, who was so knowledgeable and his manner with the animals was so lovely. We were then left to have a wander around and see all the animals. It was less than £30 for the alpaca walk and time to see the rest of the sanctuary, which was great. The cafe is also gorgeous. What an incredible place ❤️

Did the 90mins alpaca experience and it was good fun. Everyone was super friendly and our ‘farm guide’ Peter was really knowledgeable, talked in great detail about all the animals but in a way that kept it fun and engaging. The alpaca experience was 50% alpacas, 50% other animals which I actually quite liked. Good value for money.

And the cafe was nice too, with a good selection of sweet and savoury.

My friends and I can here as part of our weekend away.. we are so glad we did! Didn’t disappoint. Peter was so informative and just lovely with the animals, can tell he loves his job.
Nipped to the cafe, beautiful selection of cakes etc.. Tina was wonderful and obviously also loves where she works.

An amazing day from arrival. Made to feel very welcome. We had booked the Alpaca Experience and walked them around the site. Our guide Ben was brilliant and really engaged and knowledgeable. Animals are all clearly loved and looked after it was a wonderful place to visit. We would whole heartily recommend it as a part of any family's visit to the Peak District.

The tour is very well presented and informative. The guide was knowledgeable and approachable throughout and easily answered all questions.

The food in the cafe is good but the servers seem a bit tacky, our food was visible in the serving hatch for at least 5 minutes before it was delivered to table. There were servers standing around chatting during this wait therefore the egg was solid when it was delivered.

A Hidden Gem – So Grateful for the Kindness and Warm Welcome

I turned up at the alpaca farm with two toddlers in tow, hoping to blow off some steam around tea time. We arrived at about 5 PM, not realising they were closing early due to a quiet day. A gentleman spotted us in the car park and kindly came off his phone call to greet us. Despite the early closure, he warmly welcomed us in, waived the entry fee, and even provided a free bag of animal feed from the reception!

He was incredibly friendly and polite, giving us lots of detailed information about the farm, which is now under new management. To top it off, he even offered to grab me a cup of tea from the café—such a thoughtful gesture.

I did my best to get the little ones around quickly since it was meant to close at 6 anyway, but we could have easily spent hours there. The toddlers had a fantastic time feeding the wide variety of super friendly animals. We also noticed a lovely picnic area, which we’ll definitely make use of on our next visit.

This charming spot is only about a mile from my house, and I can already see it becoming a regular outing for us. You can tell they’ve recently renovated, and the effort really shows. All in all, it was a brilliant experience made even better by genuine kindness and hospitality.

Lovely site, plenty of room for the animals, animals were friendly came straight to us. Staff were helpful and welcoming. Adventure playground, guinea pigs and rabbits to be added soon to the site. Good for all ages, our group age range was 14 to 71 and we all enjoyed the experience.

We had a fabulous birthday party for our son, Kai, at the alpaca farm. 🎉 The staff were so friendly and helpful, the party room was perfect, and the whole farm made it such a special experience. Highly recommend it for a fun and memorable celebration! 🦙✨
