I had a very disappointing experience at this Hilton. After a long journey back to Glasgow, it was 3 a.m., and I wanted to book a room for my wife and two young children (6 months and 2.5 years old) so they could get some rest. I called ahead and was told a room could be booked and was asked for my card details. I said I would come in person, as I was nearby.

When I arrived, I cut my hand badly on a razor blade in my bag. I wrapped it and went to the reception to book the room, but the receptionist refused, saying the system would not allow a late check-in. Despite explaining the situation and being willing to pay for just a few hours, they refused to accommodate us.

A few weeks later, I received a parking fine for staying more than 15 minutes. The hotel refused to help, claiming they didn’t own the parking, even though it is clearly branded Hilton and only serves hotel visitors. VARS Technologies also rejected my appeal, stating I had not provided evidence, even though the hotel cameras would clearly show my visit, I sent them a screenshot of my call and also the hotel took my details as I called them about the fine.

The staff were unprofessional and unhelpful, and no one would take responsibility. This was extremely frustrating, especially with young children and an emergency situation. I will not stay at Hilton again.

We had a fantastic stay at the Hampton by Hilton Blackburn. The hotel was easy to find, conveniently located just off the motorway. Despite its location, we were pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was – we had a great night’s sleep!||Check-in was quick and efficient, and our room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. While the evening menu was a bit limited, everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The team were warm and welcoming throughout our stay, especially the lovely girl who served us in the evening (wish I had caught her name!).||Checkout was just as smooth as check-in, and the complimentary breakfast exceeded expectations – with more variety than we've seen in some 4-star hotels.||Highly recommend and would definitely stay again!

VARS Technologies who gave the ticket also rejected my appeal (even though they are contracted by the hotel), stating I had not provided evidence, even though the hotel cameras would clearly show my visit, I sent them a screenshot of my call and also the hotel took my details as I called them about the fine (after talking to the manager and her trying to get me off the phone, she said: "I have noted your name, if the parking company contact me I will let them know"). The hotel parking is supposed to be free for people visting or staying. I think the hotel is not interested in resolving the parking issues as they make good money out of it (more than 15 minutes stay at the parking Ā£100 fine, one night stay at the hotel Ā£70). If you are staying at the hotel or visiting someone there and know about the system, you can enter your plate number into the hotel system and everything will be fine. However, if you don’t know about it, be certain you will be fined, and then the hotel will pretend it is not in their hands to resolve it.||The staff were unprofessional and unhelpful, and no one would take responsibility. This was extremely frustrating, especially with young children and an emergency situation. I will not stay at Hilton again.

tayed here for a weekend break and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The hotel feels new and well-maintained, with a stylish lobby and plenty of parking right outside, which was a big plus for us.||The room was bright, airy, and had a really comfortable bed, we appreciated the blackout curtains too, which helped us sleep in longer than we planned! The free Wi-Fi was fast and reliable, which made it easy to stream a film in the evening.||We didn’t expect much from the hotel gym, but it was surprisingly well-equipped for a short stay – perfect for a quick morning workout. We also made use of the 24/7 snack area in the lobby, which was super handy.||Special mention to the gentleman at reception (I believe his name was James?) who gave us some great tips on places to visit nearby. The customer service throughout our stay was fantastic – friendly, efficient, and genuinely helpful.||To be honest, we thought the breakfast might be a bit limited or basic, as you sometimes find with chain hotels like Hampton, but it was the complete opposite. There was loads of choice, everything was fresh and well-stocked, and it all looked and tasted great. The waffle station was a fun bonus!||Would definitely stay here again next time we’re in the area.

I’ve stayed at this hotel an awful lot, and it continues to deliver a consistently good experience. The rooms are fantastic – very well designed with everything you could need, including a comfy sofa, fridge, kettle, safe, and even air conditioning, which is a real bonus. The beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms are excellent with powerful showers that make a big difference.

The only real let-down in the rooms is the pillows – they’re dreadful! Everyone I know who has stayed here says the same, so it’s definitely an area for improvement.

Evening meals aren’t anything to rave about, but they’re edible and convenient. Breakfast is generally good, offering a variety of hot and cold options, though the selection can be a bit hit or miss depending on the day.

The staff are always friendly, welcoming, and eager to help, which creates a pleasant atmosphere throughout the hotel. There’s also a large car park with EV charging points, and I’ve never had an issue finding a space.

Location is great – close to the motorway and next to the services, giving easy access to a wide range of food options.

Overall, it’s always a good stay. In the dozens of times I’ve been here, I’ve never had a single issue. Highly recommended for regular travellers.

Initial entrance was welcoming, clean, and spacious. Reception was quick with regards to meeting and greeting. We took the lift to first, floor. Our room was a standard room overlooking the lake which was just lovely, Overnight stay was comfortable and quiet, there were no disturbances during the night. Breakfast was a little confusing as there was no direction as to where you sat and what you did. It just appeared to be find a seat wherever you like and figure out what's on offer for yourself. The tables were not cleared of dirty dishes from previous occupants for the whole of the time we were at breakfast. Having said that, there was a good variety of cereal and cooked breakfast selection, with toast and croissants on offer also, and they were all refilled regularly. Once you figured out where everything was, it was okay. I would definitely stay at this hotel again, as I know what the system is for breakfast now, but I feel it would benefit from someone to greet guests for the initial entrance into breakfast to explain the process .

I love this hotel. Staff are so friendly. Met Ali on my check in. What a joy to deal with even made me a burger and chips and called me to say it was ready. The rooms are immaculate. Access routes are perfect and very close to other food places if you preferred something not on the menu. Thank you Alie you are a very joyful and polite person. Thank you.

The hotel is located just off the M65 motorway so it's very convenient if you're travelling but it is a bit isolated if you're planning to eat somewhere within walking distance, basically just McDonalds & KFC are nearby, however we had already stopped at a pub for dinner so it wasn't a problem. |There is masses of parking around the hotel and it was free as long as you remembered to enter your registration number on the tablet device at reception.|Both outside and inside it looks & feels modern, on the ground floor there a big spacious area with colourful lighting and a lot of comfortable seating, there's a bar and it's also where the free breakfast is served. |Reception is actually at the bar rather than at a dedicated desk which fooled us initially because there is no sign, however another guest who had experienced the same problem pointed us in the right direction. |The clean bedroom was big and well furnished with a seating area and huge TV. It had everything we could possibly need including air conditioning, a fridge, a kettle and a safe. The only downside was a shortage of hangers (5) but as we were only staying one night it wasn't a problem. |In the bathroom there was a great walk in shower which was powerful and offered a drench option. |The free breakfast was much better than we expected. The hot items included very good quality bacon and perfectly cooked scrambled eggs. There was also a reasonable continental selection like fruit, croissants and toast. Everything was constantly refreshed and even the coffee from the machine was good.|Due to the hot weather we had deliberately looked for a hotel with air conditioning which seem to be a rarity in the Bolton/Blackburn area, so was able to compare prices and this was quite a bit cheaper than any of the other chains I looked at for the same date. We often have to stay in this area and in future I'll now choose this hotel over those we would normally book.
