I did both the Namibia Botswana Zimbabwe, and the South Africa Mozambique Zimbabwe expeditions. The feeling of adventure and freedom in the wilderness, traversing less trodden paths and tiny border crossings that just get two vehicles a day, is priceless compared to what a typical all-inclusive safari offers (that you'd find via a high-street travel agency). I love seeing the animals, whatever the day brings, and getting so close to nature, and driving a 4x4 through the bush is so much more fun than driving a car on roads in the UK. Camping with these great cars also means you always have everything with you, which is very handy and also feels like a more eco-conscious and intimate way to interact with the nature all around you. I highly recommend the experience!

I have done a one day off road experience in Kent with Nick as well as a weekend in Wales. Nick is professional, patient and above all a fun instructor. The whole experience is fantastic and you come away feeling like you have achieved something and learnt lots along the way. I would highly recommend Nick and Wilder Expeditions if you are looking at something different and memorable.

I went to the Namibia-Botswana-Zimbabwe Oct'19 trip organised by Nick. Truly the most awesome trip of my life! I don't know how Nick managed to deliver it in the way that it was so well organised to every little detail, yet you get the feeling of a totally wild experience with unplanned adventure. Clearly with a lifelong experience of the bushlife, he was almost like a personal guide to each of us, there was no question that he didn't know the answer to. I learnt sooo much on this icredible trip.
Authentic, with the great balance of simplicity and depth.
You'll get the real taste of African daily life, interacting with the locals, something that you wouldn't experience with other organised safaris.
In the wilderness with no humans around, no noise of civilisation, no man-made structures, we cooked our own food, ate our lunches and breakfasts next to the elephants, oryxes, and all types of boks; evenings around the fire, so peaceful, all you hear is the noise and roaring of wild animals closely, yet feel totally safe. The sky at nights is spectacular! I would just lean back on a chair and stare at a millions of stars, with the roaring in the background, chirping of the birds, and the noise of the fire... it's the best retreat one can ever wish for! I'm sure i wouldn't have any of these if i went for widely advertised safaris.
In the first few days i did feel a little homesick, missing my kids, but within 3-4 days, once i got the taste of African adventure, I even forgot about my children (hope they don't read this ?)
We drove our cars in turns, most of the people in the group were experienced drivers, except myself. I had forgotten how to control gear box of a manual car. Nick was so patient, taught me a 4×4 off-road driving with manual gear. It is such a fun to drive on African roads and the bush, with the wild animals walking alongside or crossing the roads. We saw every possible wild animal on this trip, lucky! Yet again, was it luck or was it Nick's knowledge of the special places at the right times!?
If you are looking for an authentic, safari holiday, full of activities and unplanned adventure, if you want to feel the intimacy of the wilderness, this is the kind of trip i would recommend.
Before our trip finished i had already wanted to go on one of his next trips. And if i did the same thing again, i wouldn't get bored for a minute. Next time would love to take my family too.

Have done an offroading day course with Nick down in Kent and a weekend in Wales. Would highly recommend him to anyone interested in trying offroading. The day course is really beneficial if you've not done anything like it before. Nick is very experienced, patient and makes the whole experience fun. Will definitely be signing up to more of his events.

Honestly the best holiday of my life. I imagine you can see great wildlife on any safari, but this was something else. The variety of landscapes, the proximity, personality and beauty of wild animals, the total sense of adventure filling each leg of the journey was truly incredible.

I'm not a natural or avid camper, so the genuine joy I got from a car roof-mounted pop-up tent and a night full of nature's sights and sounds was a surprise to everyone. Stories of previous trips built up our imaginations with a sense of tension and anticipation that every thriller writer dreams of.

Nick had every detail and contingency plan sorted, was totally unphased dealing with the common challenges of African border crossings, and is so experienced in the ways of wildlife and nature that he made what could have been thoroughly terrifying off-road moments - whether river crossings or charging elephants - both calm and exciting. A talented leader I'd follow literally anywhere, lion's den or hyena pack, because I know it would be utterly fantastic!

What an awesome trip! I went on the Namibia Botswana trip in 2016 and it was an incredible experience. The best way to do safari by far!
