Bws Peris coach hire - Caernarfon

We recently completed the National Three Peaks Challenge across Scotland, England, and Wales with Bws Peris, and I wanted to share our experience.

Bws Peris, based in Llanberis (which is super handy when you’re tackling Snowdon), provided a clean and reliable coach for the trip. We were picked up from Crewe train station - an easy link for those coming from across the UK - and headed up to Fort William for the start of our epic adventure.

The coach was well-maintained, with a comfortable temperature and a smooth, quiet engine. Seven hours on any coach is a bit of a stretch, but this one did its best to make it bearable. The only hitch was the seating comfort - let’s just say I was shifting a lot by the end of the journey!

Now, the drivers. On day one, they were a bit brusque and I felt they were a little condescending, which wasn’t what we expected. However, we later realised they were racing to beat a road closure. Fair play to them - it was a good move, but it would have been nice if they’d let us know why we were being hurried along. A little transparency snd communication would have made a big difference.

Our Ben Nevis climb went well overall, though some in our group found the descent tough on the knees, slowing us down. The longer break on the way to Scafell was a welcome improvement from the short 15-minute dash the day before, though in hindsight, a shorter stop might have helped us catch up on time.

Scafell was a bit chaotic. I summited just as the sun set (pure magic), but two members of our group took two hours longer to descend. This left us running late for Snowdon. Knowing some members were struggling with the descents, the company rightly suggested we take the Pyg Track up and the Llanberis Path down, which was a smart and considerate choice.

Two members dropped out of the Snowdon climb altogether, opting to return to Llanberis by bus. The rest of us summited in good time, but again a few slower descenders lagged behind, getting back just over an hour and a half after the main group. Whilst we waited in a beer garden (as you would do in a gloriously sunny Wales!), our driver seemed to get a bit irritated. Eventually, we moved to sit by the bus to keep the peace.

What really disappointed me was when the driver began suggesting we leave the slower walkers on the mountain to find their own way back or that they might drop us in Chester instead of Crewe. That felt like a step too far. I understand it’s tough working within strict driving times and the frustration must’ve been building up, but that approach was a real low point for me. As a service they offered I had expected they'd be understanding and that they'd have legislated for these kinds of delays, which I expect happen with lots of groups.

That said, the drivers were much friendlier when they dropped us off at Snowdon. I suppose they were relieved to have got us all back in one piece!

In summary:

* Bws Peris runs a tight ship with reliable, clean coaches - based right in Llanberis, so perfectly placed for Snowdon.
* Communication could be improved, especially when changes to the plan are happening.
* It’s clear the company works hard to make the challenge work under tough driving time regulations, which I respect.
* The idea of abandoning walkers or changing drop-off points didn’t sit right with us.

Would I recommend Bws Peris for a future Three Peaks challenge? I would. They did it and it's a challenge for the drivers too. But I would add the caveat that communication and managing delays with a bit more empathy would take their service from good to great. It’s a tough job, and they’re clearly doing their best but a little extra polish wouldn’t go amiss!

Brilliant service for a family of 11 on our airport transfer; to and from Manchester Airport. Zero delay in the pick up and drop off times. Pick up was late at night and they had supplied pillows and blankets which was a really nice touch. Drivers were Darren & Ian, who were both very professional and accommodating. Brilliant Airport Transfer for 14 of us!
We had an amazing experience with Bws Peris through our journey both to and from Manchester Airport. The coach was extremely comfortable, which we were highly appreciative of, especially on our journey home from the airport the following week as we were picked up at roughly 3:00am. With plenty of luggage space on the luxurious coach, alongside the fantastic and friendly service, I couldn’t recommend Bws Peris enough! We will definitely be booking with you again in the future👍🏼

Fantastic service, the group of 20 were all running late due to delayed and cancelled trains from London. Shane was patient to say the least, we eventually all got to Chester 2 hrs later than planned. But Shane waited and got us to Llanberis just in time for the Yr Wyddfa night climb. Coach was very high quality and comfortable. Would highly recommend. Thx
