**WARNING: if you visit The Knights, don't accidentally turn up at the riding school which is based in the same location as the people there will hate you for it and be very rude! Go up to the top car park at the end of the track and try to avoid all contact with the leader of the riding school!**

I had an amazing time doing the horse archery experience with The Knights of Middle England! The two people who facilitated our visit were wonderful-really friendly, professional and full of helpful tips and tricks. They really knew their stuff and made it super fun for us, and were very accommodating. They also took photos and videos on one of our phones which was really appreciated as it's lovely to look back on them for the great memories!

It was all based on a straight track with three targets set out (with a fair distance between them to give you time to reload) just a very short walk from the yard. We began on foot learning the techniques of horse archery (as it's quite different to normal archery) and taking some practise shots then we got on the horses and shot while walking, trotting and then cantering. One horse would be going down the track shooting while the horse which has just been would be walking back up the track so this way it was quite efficient and we got quite a few runs in. We only did one cantering run though-I would have preferred to have done more as it was definitely easier than trotting (and more fun, who doesn't love to canter?!).

The horses were wonderful-I was on Manecco (sorry if I spell this wrong!) and he was absolutely raring to go-so impatient to get the next run in! It was lovely to see the horse enjoying it as much as me! They were so well-trained that we were able to ride up the track using no reins at all (of course you couldn't while shooting anyway as you didn't have any hands free!) so that was a nice experience-to just be able to trust the horse like that. They were extremely responsive to commands too.

The hardest thing about the archery while on the horse was nocking the arrow and stopping it from falling off so make sure to focus your practise on that part (rather than focussing on getting your arrows right in the centre of the target) and keep those fingers on/thumbs out to keep that arrow in place until you're ready to shoot!

We gave our daughter and son-in-law a Horseback Archery experience for Christmas. We all went along yesterday and watched them. They really enjoyed it and did really well. The horses were wonderful. Well trained and so responsive. We were made very welcome. At the end of their 2 hour session it was obvious they wanted to come back and do it again! Our granddaughter also wants to have a go but our 5 year old grandson decided he’d rather go quad biking! 😂😂 Would recommend a Knights of Middle England experience. 😊

Just driving in there is a sense of calm.
Horses all gorgeous and Bear looked after lucy.

I can't praise the Knights of Middle England enough. This is such a wonderful company of horsemen and horsewomen who keep history alive. These amazing guys performed a joust at my wedding in Hedingham Castle earlier this year which was a once in a lifetime experience. It snowed that day so conditions couldn't have been worse but they put on an amazing show which people are still talking about months later. Eternally grateful for the memories.

As a horse lover, I decided to try my hand at jousting and recently did a Jousting Experience Day in Warwick. I had the best time! Everyone is really knowledgeable and friendly. The horses are well looked after and their welfare is paramount. I had such a great time on the experience that I have decided to come back for jousting lessons in future.

The Knights of Middle England are AMAZING. I mean, truly amazing. The acting is fantastic. The costumes look incredible. And the whole show is like you’re in an immersive programme.

The skill that they have on horseback is ridiculous. Honestly, there are not enough superlatives to describe how good they are.

You've got to watch these guys and girls in action at least once. You won’t be disappointed!
