Excellent location but that’s where the positives end unfortunately.

The building looks tired and the area outside the front of the property unkempt, with overgrown weeds, piles of leaves and litter making the place appear derelict and uninviting.

The inside wasn’t much better, nothing like the images advertised, which we found very misleading. It is in desperate need of some TLC, especially considering the price. We were very uncomfortable during our stay and if we had booked to stay for more than one night we likely would have left early.

Such a shame as it would be a lovely place to stay if some maintenance and care was shown.

OK so the historical old building needs refurbishment in quite a few areas but for the price you pay it's more than fare. If you want an old, well worn and homely place with tonnes of space this is the house to hire. If you desire a modernised building with tonnes of restrictions look elsewhere but the prices will far exceed the Garden House.

Not many holiday homes allow your 4 footed furry friends to join you at bedtime. Most have restrictions of downstairs only or ousted completely to kennels on the property.
Jackie, the sole full time cleaner for the entire 20 ensuite rooms, post Covid is truly amazing. Spotless bed linen and clean bathrooms plus 🚻 downstairs. So there are some cobwebs with a few house spiders but it's what you should expect in any aged building of such grand proportions.
We were a church family of 32 plus everyone could feel relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Our 2 chefs found the kitchen's siting excellent from the health and safety aspect. The steps down helped keep folks out when busy making meals; great demarcation line. Shut the door to keep people out, especially children, during food preparation, if necessary, when handling hot pans etc.
The owner is aware of the shortcomings but working hard to improve things. Not exactly easy in a place so vast. We all hope to return at a future date as we felt it a fabulous, unpretentious place to holiday in.

I loved staying here. We are a big family so it was perfect. All the rooms are en-suite the kitchen is huge although a little way from the dining room (as it’s an ex hotel it’s a commercial kitchen but wasn’t a problem for us and I believe if you wish they can arrange catering)
A large lounge with several settees and a games room with pool table and games consoles.
The outside area is fabulous and totally secure which is wonderful for children and dogs alike (pet friendly) All sides have a high wall round!
There is a patio area with seating and a bbq
The washing machine and dryer are located in an outbuilding just down from the kitchen.
The location is great too just a short walk into Stamford and parking for several cars
Stamford itself is quaint and picturesque
I will definitely be staying here again

Disappointed with the place vs website pictures. It's an old converted office and absolutely still feels like you're sleeping in an office..... beds were the most uncomfortable things we've ever slept on! Bathroom was cold and shower barely had any pressure..... the location is excellent and the lounge is comfortable- but it's not how it's advertised

Staying here as iam working locally. The place is nice ,big roomy,gardens are lovely, could do with updating decor wise but I think a plan is in place. Overall more than exepatable for our needs working away.

From the outside this place looks quite grotty. They clearly have no pride and can't even be bothered to carry out some simple weeding/sweeping outside their property.
Sets a really bad example and brings the area down.

Nice property to spend time with family and reasonably priced. Lovely location but a little tired decor wise and chilli - ask for the heating to be put on well before you arrive.

Great place for large parties to stay with most facilities on hand to cater for same. Large airy conservatory, lounges, games room, cold room for food storage, etc. Bedrooms adequate but bring own toiletries. Close to town centre.
