We recently stayed at this wonderful accessible lodge in Somerset for our family holiday, and we couldn’t have been more impressed. From the moment we arrived, it felt like a true home-from-home – spacious, peaceful, and extremely well thought out for families like ours who have a loved one with complex needs.

What really stood out to us was how well-equipped the lodge was for our daughter. Her bedroom was large and easy to move around in, giving us all the space we needed to care for her comfortably. The room included an H-frame ceiling hoist, which was an absolute essential for us, and it led into a fully accessible ensuite shower room – again with an H-frame hoist – making moving and handling safe and straightforward. Everything had been carefully considered, which made such a difference to our stay.

The other two bedrooms were also very spacious and each one had its own bathroom, either with a bath or shower, which we really appreciated as a family. The main living area was open, accessible, and very comfortable. We made good use of the large dining table, especially for meals together, and the layout allowed everyone to move around easily.

One of the highlights was the wood-fired hot tub. Thanks to the permanent hoist dedicated to the hot tub area, we were able to safely transfer our daughter in and out, allowing her to enjoy it fully – and she absolutely loved it, as did we all.

Onsite, there’s also a shared summerhouse with a wood/coal fired stove. While we didn’t use this much during our stay, we could see how cosy and inviting it would be during cooler months – a great feature for those visiting in autumn or early spring.

Jenny and her partner were brilliant hosts – always available and happy to help with anything we needed, particularly when it came to operating the equipment and aids for our daughter. Their support and understanding made our stay even more relaxing.

The lodge is ideal for families who require proper accessibility features, like hoists, profiling beds, and wide open spaces. It’s clear a lot of care has gone into making it genuinely accessible – not just ticking boxes.

The plot where the lodges sit is lovely and clean, with a real sense of nature. At the bottom of the plot, there is a large wildlife-friendly area with big bug houses, which were great to explore. Our youngest daughter really enjoyed investigating the bug houses – they were a brilliant touch and added another element of fun to the outdoor space. To top it all off, we even saw a wild deer inside the boundary during our stay – a real treat as we’re big wildlife fans.

If we find ourselves holidaying in Somerset again, we would definitely love to return. We highly recommend this accommodation to any family, especially those with additional needs – it’s clear this place was built with love, care, and real understanding.

Firstly, what an amazing place this is to come, beautiful lodge to stay in, well looked after, staff are friendly. First time here supporting my client and I’ve enjoyed my stay. Will definitely recommend to family and friends and will definitely be returning.

Jenny popped round this evening with fresh bedding and a little gift for my client as she returns home tomorrow after staying here for 5 weeks whilst her home was being renovated. Very kind.

We had a fantastic week staying in Mountain lodge with our family and extended family. We were easily able to manage our severely disabled son's needs as this is the first holiday let we have stayed in that has a height-adjustable shower bench, which made our life so much easier. We also used one of Jenny's shower chairs as well. My son also enjoys walking outside in his walker and this was easy to do and roll him straight in. A previous "disabled-friendly" holiday let we have stayed in had a large gravel driveway so thank you for having a hard-standing finish!! We didn't need to use the hoist but greatly appreciated the huge space in the disabled room as we have to bring a bed for my son without having to remove furniture.
It really helped being able to speak to Jenny before our arrival and clearly as an OT really understands the needs of disabled individuals.
The lodge is beautifully finished throughout with great attention to detail. We also enjoyed the hot tub as well although it wasn't quite the right thing for our disabled son. We will be back in 2026!

I am a PA for a young lady who is currently staying at Mountain lodge whilst her home undertakes building work. What a beautiful place. Beautiful setting. The owners have thought of everything. A electric hoist into the hot tub was the cherry on the cake. I felt like I was on holiday for the weekend and not working. Would absolutely recommend this place. (I wanted to bring the duvet and pillows home lol)

This was our first time staying at Mountain Lodge and we had a great week. We are a family of 5 with a disabled child. It made it so much easier to have the overhead hoist, shower chair, changing bench and use of a P Pod chair. The lodge was spacious and well laid out. We enjoyed lots of days out and would probably book again in the future.

Brilliant stay at Mountain Lodge. Great for anyone who needs ceiling track hoists ,wetroom and changing bench. Lodge has plenty of space to move a wheelchair around as our son is wheelchair dependent. Will definitely be recommending it to people who need this accommodation. We will definitely be coming again. Situated in a great place to explore Devon and Somerset.

the visit to mountain lodge was incredible - Jenny ( the host) was very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed and all questions were answered. The lodge was to a very high spec and had been adapted perfectly to accommodate people with mobility issues of those who require a wheelchair.
The location was beautiful with amazing views from all angles , i could not flaw the stay and would kindly recommend the lodge to others .
