Netherby House - Whitby

We met up with about 29 others as an Advent Study Group. We stayed in the Conservatory for the meeting. The chairs are very comfortable, radiators were on but despite how many there were in there, the temperature felt just right. We will be meeting weekly for another 3 weeks

Sorry I can't comment on the rooms or pricing or meals. But I'm sure it will be worth you checking it out. Beautiful countryside around the area, so will be ideal for walking.

My mum and I have just returned from a 4 night stay at Netherby House. We had a lovely twin room with a beautiful view of the countryside. We enjoyed sitting in the summer house at the bottom of the gardens, so peaceful and idyllic. The breakfasts and evening meals were superb. Seen some reviews about the shower, but ours was great, oudles of hot water and a lovely powerful shower. Perfect location, near to Whitby and the beautiful Moors. Thank you Hayley for helping to make our stay so good, you are a credit to Netherby House.

visited a week ago, although the room was absolutely fine really clean and tidy, views were amazing I must say considering we paid £336.00 for two nights I was more than disappointed with the breakfast, I feel orange juice should be available without having to ask for it, as I am not at all a picky person I found the first breakfast terrible the sausage and bacon were so dried up like rubber and cold toast, second morning bacon was better the sausage(being about 3" long and 1/2" if that thick was terrible)
I asked for poached egg and beans on toast and a piece of toast for myself and two grandchildren my husband just wanted a plain piece of bread with his breakfast, I received my eggs which were fine and my small spoon of beans, but we still had no toast or plain bread I asked the waiter twice politely if we could have these to eat obviously with breakfast, 15 mins later and cold breakfast we receive 1 piece of burnt toast, I gave it back and waited then we got the 3 toast(still burnt piece)
but no plain bread for husband eventually he got the bread with cold breakfast. as the dining room was not even busy and the hotel has awards for the breakfast we were very disappointed.

The room we stayed in was a lovely double room, outside of the main B&B. There was a full tea and coffee service with biscuits and hot chocolate in the room, along with a TV and sitting area. The staff were polite, friendly and willing to provide directions and handy tips on the best places to park. The breakfast was lovely and well received. Our only complaint was the temperature. The rooms were very cold, despite the radiator being turned up fully and having a thick double duvet and extra bedspread. As we were only staying 1 night (and we understood Feb is a cold month!) We accepted the low temperature as part and parcel of our stay!

The customer service at the hotel is poor - everything seems to be arranged to suit the owner / manager rather than the paying guests. That might not be such a problem in a hostel or cheap B&B but this place is relatively expensive and tries to pass itself off as being a bit special. ||||The rooms are a good size, are clean and there is a large car park which is very convenient. ||||The breakfasts are average.

Location excellent, view from the bottom of the garden breathtaking, three miles from Whitby, gave us peace and quiet with just a short taxi ride to the hustle and bustle of Whitby, we had a separate chalet type room that was comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast was cooked to order and adequate. Lovely place to stay.

We were, initially, looking to stay right in Whitby but decided to book Netherby House as it looked so nice and the reviews were good. I can confirm that the good reviews are accurate. Very pleasant stay, lovely breakfasts, attentive staff and friendly fellow guests. The room was very comfortable and cosy and warm. Sleights is a very convenient base to explore Whitby and the surrounding area. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at Netherby House again if we were in the area.

Writing this review on behalf of my parents.||||The experience with the Netherby House Hotel was poor, compounded by a manager / Owner who does not follow up properly on customer complaints and portrays his hotel in a poor light.||||We booked a ground floor room (as this was stated in the advert) for a 3 night stay. ||Upon arrival at the hotel there was no record of the booking. We were informed that the manager had "forgotten" to put the booking on their system. Not a great start. A room was found for the first night, however this involved a number of stairs which caused problems for my parents; both are disabled and my mother has sight issues. ||||Thankfully my parents were move into a ground floor room for the following 2 nights. At some point on the 2nd day my parents discussed the issue with the night receptionist. They were told that they should have phoned up to confirm the booking! – The fact that this was booked on the internet, and confirmation subsequently received is more than adequate confirmation! ||||It also lists on all the booking sites that the hotel has a restaurant - it does not. When I complained, the manager stated that this was down to the booking sites and not the hotel!||||I sent an E-Mail of complaint which took over a week to get a response to; it was a poor, rushed response and didn't address any of the complaint. I sent a follow up response and have had no reply 2 weeks later. This is poor and shows how the manager truly values his customers. ||||Hotel - Feedback from my parents was that it was clean enough but very dated and in need of modernisation. Breakfast is included in the cost but was not of a good quality.
