Lovely clean distillery in a peaceful setting opposite the old abbey ruins. I didn't do a tour, just dropped in for a few drinks with family and our dog. Great choice of whisky flights and whisky cocktails. The staff are so friendly and welcoming even providing water and treats for our dog. They also gave great advice and help when buying whisky from the well stocked shop.

Booked a tour for myself and my friend on arrival we were told we were the only ones booked for the tour at that time so received an exclusive tour . Guide was very informative and friendly and we received a lot of information about their whiskey . I have been on distillery tours before but this one was 5star even though they were not distilling at that moment (clean down of all the equipment) received some nice tasting samples and a few more in the shop before buying a couple of bottles.

No whisky pilgrimage should be considered complete without a visit to Lindores Abbey, earliest confirmed site of whisky distillation in Scotland.

The owners could have taken the easy way, leaned into only the tourism part of it, bottling other people's spirit and selling it under the Lindores Abbey brand. Instead, they've managed to combine a beautiful nod to the past with an excellent start to their own whisky journey. Although all the Lindores whiskies are quite young, they are already impressive. Absolutely worth a visit, both for the history and the whisky. Really looking forward to seeing what these guys do in the future.

This is a lovely new distillery built on the site of the abbey.
Its full of history and they have tried to include as much history within the building giving it lots of character.
Its a small distillery thats new to distilling whisky which was brought on by the history of the abbey which when in the past was home to monks who brewed their own alcohol (aqua vite) water of life.
Its one of the only distillery's that is dog friendly, so even your pooch can go round the distillery with you.
Whilst there , look out for the abbey's famous duo, their beautiful cats.
They offer a lovely meat and cheese platter for 2 whilst you sample a wee dram/cocktail after the tour, or even if you just want to visit the abbey located across the road.(Pre order this please)
The distillery has a wide variety of gifts/whisky to purchace (something for everyone) and the staff are happy to answer any questions you may have.
This is definitely a place to visit whether a whisky lover or just a tourist as there is plenty of history around the grounds and surrounding area.

We stopped at Lindores Abbey for a tour and tasting en route from Braemar to the Borders, and it was absolutely worth it. The connection to the original abbey and the early history of whisky-making made the experience more than just about production.

The tour was informative without being too long or dry, and the tasting at the end was generous and well explained. Staff were friendly and enthusiastic, and we seriously stocked up at the shop. The best part was that everything was super dog-friendly, and they really made our dog, Teddy, feel welcome (even though he couldn’t drink). The tasters for my husband, who was driving, were also thoughtfully done.
