We have just returned from our activity holiday in Albania. We loved everything about it.
6 years ago we did the Undiscovered Montenegro multi-activity holiday. We had such a good holiday then it inspired us to explore more of the region. We knew we wanted to go again with Undiscovered Balkans/Montenegro as they had proved they were superb in providing a full action packed itinerary, with a personal touch. Our activity holiday in Albania again did not disappoint.
Aldo, our guide, at the end of the holiday asked us which was our favourite activity/day. Neither of us was able to pick one out as each day was packed with something different and fun, and all had the backdrop of beautiful scenery, punctuated by very good local food and hospitality.
Under Aldo’s guidance we felt comfortable and safe. Through his attention to detail and thoughtfulness Aldo made sure we had the best experiences every day and gave us a great insight into the history and culture of the area.
Again we have had another very memorable holiday.

We stayed at Villa Miela, expertly hosted by Tobi and Adel. We took our children aged 11 and 15 and shared the beautiful villa with 2 other wonderful families while we had never met before. This is the first adventure holiday for us and we just wished we had done it years ago. We had the best of times, seeing places we would never have been able to do alone. Kayaking, caving, trekking, cycling, swimming in waterfall, and all of this was well away from the tourist trail. Tobi and Adel have a very relaxed approach and everyone felt involved. The two volunteers , Sam and Will were amazing too. Beers, wine, guitar, great food. Get booked!

Beautiful house in the middle of nowhere with the most magnificent view. You feel as if you have the valley to yourself. So peaceful. Tobi and Adél are amazing hosts. Very relaxed and will do anything to help you. The activities are the best. We didn’t see anyone else on our Lake Skadar kayaking day-except pelicans, herons, cormorants and egrets. The trek days were just enough walking with beautiful views interspersed with swimming in secret little pools and waterfalls. Lots of wildlife spotted: toads, frogs, tortoises, snakes as well as all the beautiful birds. The pool was wonderful to relax in at the end of each day. We made great friends with the other guests and enjoyed their company at the group meals. I recommend the breakfast box for the first day-delicious and essential as no shops open on Sunday when you arrive. I also recommend bringing some lunch for when you first arrive in case you don’t feel like walking down to the town for lunch (restaurants are open on Sunday).

Adel and Tobi host the tour expertly leading the kayaking and hikes to waterfalls and recommend places for the days off. They are the best! Knowledgeable, warm and nothing is too much trouble.
The location of the farmhouse is wonderful with far reaching views of the unspoilt Black Mountains with Lake Skadar just visible.
Plenty of swimming in the lake from boat and kayak, in waterfalls and the saltwater pool at Vila Miele.
We added 2 nights in Perast at the end to experience the beautiful Kotor Bay.

We wanted to introduce our children to adventure travel and booked this holiday on the recommendation of a friend. We were absolutely blown away by how much fun it was and the beauty of Montenegro. The children broadened their horizons trying new activities and pushing their limits. It was wonderful to see. More than once they said they want to do more activities like this as a family. The accommodation was excellent and the food was plentiful and delicious. Our guides, Vera and Nikolas, were fabulous and shared their knowledge and love of their country. We now love Montenegro too and can't wait to go back!

Firstly, the views from the accomodation were spectacular - you can't beat waking up to a coffee and breakfast on the terrace with that kind of back drop! My family and I had the entire farmhouse to ourselves as we had all rooms booked, and they were very comfortable. The villa was kept clean at all times and was in great condition. Our hosts and guides, Tobi and Adel, were lovely - down to earth and easy to get along with, and we enjoyed their company. The activities themselves were incredible! Hiking, kayaking, canyoning, wild swimming and some delicious lunches in some of the most picturesque locations - a particular highlight is the lunch at Tania's house midway through a relatively challenging hike. I would say all of the activities require a good level of fitness, but are scalable in any case if you spoke with the hosts and expressed any concerns. Pack plenty of bug spray as the mosquitos are present, but not unbearable. Shoes that allow you to walk in the water on uneven and slippery stones would also be a recommendation of mine, but we all did fine without them. Thanks very much, Undiscovered Montenegro!

I was attracted to this holiday because it offered a mix of activities without being too arduous. We had forest hiking, rock scrambling into caves, lake cruising, wine tasting, kayaking, a lot of wild swimming in rivers, waterfalls and lake, cycling, and some very nice lunches. Particularly enjoyed climbing up the fern surrounded waterfall and to the little cave behind the pool. The forest hike with Emma was great as she pointed out eagles and giant caterpillars, stopped at numerous swimming places where we interacted with crayfish and blue dragonflies, and had a huge lunch cooked by Tatiana with various local dishes served from her kitchen. Kayaking day with Ben was new and enjoyable experience, a full day on the lake and rivers. We were skilfully looked after by Ben and Emma, assisted by Toby and Adele. They were attentive to our needs and problems, and communicated well with us in person and over social media. Our group was mix of families and solo travelers, who gelled well. Scheduled days were full and active. In evenings most were content to use the kitchen and dine casually rather than trek 3 km down to the village to restaurants. Villa Miles and Derembijla rooms were comfortable and have great views over the valley and mountains. It is a spectacular and lush setting, the valley and lake are bursting with flora and fauna. Local people especially those with good English were welcoming and informative. Learned a lot about local natural history, history and how Montenegro works.
This is a great holiday if you want to experience a beautiful and slightly Wild West kind of country, be physically active and have a little bit of adventure.
