We unfortunately had a very disappointing visit to Beechfield House. While we were very excited to come visit on a family holiday, the hotel has a lot of potential but is run down with poor service.

We were surprise by the state of the grounds and rooms initially. There was a lot of dust & cobwebs in our room, and leftover milk spills on and around the coffee machine. On our first night of a 3 night stay, the water went out, with several members of our larger party mid shower when it happened. When this occurred no updates or communication was provided to us as guests. We just had to wait several hours for it to be resolved.

On day 2, the hotel seemed to run out of everything- they had no towels, no beer, no glasses to serve drinks in. Despite putting the placard on our door handle, our room was not serviced. When one member of our party went to ask for some more toilet paper, they were directed to the shared toilet on the main floor to get a small handful- no new rolls were offered.

It honestly felt like the team there did not wish to provide service for our family. We didn’t think we were asking for too much .

But they seemed to think running water, towels and toilet paper was beyond the scope of their responsibilities to provide.

On the positive side, the pool was wonderful and the breakfast was good! The spot has enormous potential under different management, but we were extremely disappointed by the experience we had.

Had driven past the hotel many times but never thought about staying. Booked for my birthday and we weren't disappointed. It's a hidden gem in lovely grounds with an outdoor heated pool. It was a very hot day and chilling by the pool with a cold beer was amazing. Staff and guests were so friendly especially Elaine on reception. Food was excellent too although not the quickest of service but the hotel was quite busy. Our room at the top of the hotel was spacious and comfortable but very hot. Book a ground floor room if you come in a heatwave. Will definitely be returning.

We had family visiting from abroad who stayed all week and we spent one night. Throughout the week the staff made us feel very welcome. Kane did fantastic cocktails and mocktails alike. He checked in on our group regularly. |Elaine also needs a shout out for the effort she put in to make our and our families stay great. She helped us arrange at short notice to get us wedding ready and had helped out on the phone when we had some questions. |Our room was lovely. It was a family room with beautiful decor and bathroom. Bed was super comfy. I would definitely recommend. Only thing to watch is the attic rooms are very warm in the summer where are family was staying.

This is one of our favourite hotels. Clean rooms, the food, bar, lounge space, gardens, pool, so much on offer here.
Our last stay was probably our best to date. Everything was on point and our minor concerns on a previous trip were dealt with excellently. From ensuring they had my husband's cider, reserving our favourite room and being so helpful with our afternoon tea when our elderly Aunt visited.
Our stays are important to visit family and having a very comfortable base makes things much easier for us.
Huge thanks to everyone especially Elaine. Also the amazing Kane looking after us, enduring my husband's cider jokes and making me the best espresso martini.
Can't wait for our next visit.

My daughter and I had afternoon tea here, and it was just how we expected this to be! Lovely finger sandwiches with fresh bread, fresh warm scones, and a selection of tiny pastries and cakes. All served on a linen tablecloth by smiling friendly staff. Large choices of teas, and an alternative soft drink for my daughter who is also a non meat eater, and this was catered for with no problems. Thank you, we will return.

We had a super 3 night stay in the garden apartment which has 2 beds, 1 bathroom, lounge/diner + kitchen and own garden area. All the food we had was great, especially the afternoon tea (thanks Elaine) with vegetarian, vegan and gluten free diets well catered for. The outdoor pool was heated to a lovely temperature and is kept really clean.

Had a fantastic time at Beechfield staying in the Garden Apartment. All the staff are wonderful, striking a perfect balance between friendly and professional but a special shout out to Elaine. All the food we had there was excellent, especially the afternoon tea. Vegetarians, vegans and gluten free people are well catered for here. Being there during some of the hottest days of the year the outdoor pool was amazing.

We were disappointed. What a lovely old house in an out-of-the-way location (see photos). It's a hotel as well, we were only there for lunch. The business is under new management who have already made the property, internally, look third rate with the introduction of "tacky" modern art and the tables and chairs in the dining room aren't much better. The simple use of a tablecloth would have helped. The poor girl serving us, on entry, seemed not to have received adequate training. The menu quoted a "whole baked sole" which turned out to be a half, panfried sole and only when I had my starter laid in front of me did they tell me my main course was no available! There was no toast with the terrine which was bland. Believe me I am trying to find a positive, the best I can do is the Chicken Supreme and Pork Tenderloin were "OK". Answer go elsewhere.
