A breathtakingly stunning house with equally impressive gardens. Plenty of opportunities to explore the extensive grounds along with picnic benches to sit down on for resting. Visits inside the house are optional and are timed to allow for maximum viewing. Staff very friendly and informative.

This is a beautiful place with three different walks around lovely grounds. The guides that tell the history of the house are very knowledgeable, polite and friendly. The upstairs area was unfortunately closed awaiting renovation but the grounds were lovely. There is a good café and I can say that the pulled pork sandwich and potato wedges were very nice and reasonably priced. I will definitely return.

This is another beautiful National Trust property & gardens.

We visited recently and manged to join a free, guided tour of the gardens which we found to be thoroughly enjoyable and interesting. Thank you to Julian for sharing his passion and knowledge of Montacute!

The house itself is only open on the ground floor due to renovations of the staircase. During the week, we did not need a timed ticket to enter.

There's a nice little cafe with an outdoor courtyard ( beware of the wasps!) and an indoor seating area too.

Also, a bookshop in the old stables and the usual NT gift shop.

It's definitely worth a visit. Thank you.

Fabulous Elizabethan House. The grounds are beautiful. There is a timed entry to the house. Also, there is some limited access whilst a staircase is being renovated. Easy parking. Great place for a picnic.

The house is beautiful, as are the grounds. However, the upstairs is closed, so there is very little to see, and you still pay full entry price. All of the furnishings from the house were donated when the national trust took it over.
We walked around the village, which is very pretty, and visited the church.
Stopped for cream tea, scones were not very nice, and you're charged £3 for the little pot of jam and carton of cream!

I had a wonderful stay at Montacute House with the National Trust. The South Cottage was full of charm—cozy, clean, and perfectly located for exploring the beautiful grounds and surrounding countryside. It felt like stepping back in time, but with all the comforts needed for a relaxing break.

The staff were absolutely lovely—welcoming, helpful, and clearly passionate about the house and its history. Whether we were asking for local tips or just chatting about the estate, everyone was kind and knowledgeable.

Montacute House itself is stunning, with beautifully kept gardens and fascinating rooms to explore. A real gem of a place—already looking forward to coming back!

Absolutely beautiful place 😍 only ground floor was open yesterday 13th July. Due to repairs starting on the staircases due to general wear and tear over 100 year's. But was still enjoyable and also the garden's. flower's were blooming 😍 💖 weather ☀️ was very hot 🔥 🥵.
