On pick up day Charlotte was extremely lovely, picked me up from home and we had a nice upbeat chat on the way to the centre. She also answered some questions I had about the hire experience which put me at ease.

When we got there Lewis was an absolute lad, introduced himself and came out to join us. They both got me prepped for my van hire, adding value to my service.

Van was great to drive, nice and modern and I didn’t feel stressed that I would receive lots of random extra charges upon my return.

On drop off day I was greeted by George who came out and inspected the van and brought me back home. Really down to earth chap, had control of things back at the centre and had a nice chat on the way home about family & living in Ipswich.

Charlotte definitely deserves that management title!

Another complete letdown — this time from Enterprise.
After a nightmare experience with Europcar (you can see my review there too), I called Enterprise on my moving day, explained everything, and spoke to someone at head office. He was understanding, checked all my details — including my address and licence — and reassured me everything was fine. I was told I could collect a van at 1 PM for £119.79 for 24 hours, plus a £200 deposit. I agreed, got an email confirmation, and finally felt some relief.
Then, about 40 minutes later, I got a call from the Ipswich branch saying they couldn’t find me in the system and couldn’t locate my licence — even though it had already been confirmed. On top of that, they suddenly told me I could only pay by credit card, without any proper reason — despite paying a deposit too. It felt totally unprofessional and made no sense.
This was all happening while I had people waiting to help load the van. I was on a strict schedule and now left scrambling — again.
Thankfully, Gallagher Van Hire saved the day. I walked in, stressed and frustrated, and met a lovely lady named Karen. I explained the situation and within 10 minutes I had a van ready to go — for just £95. No issues with my licence, no weird payment rules, no hassle at all.
Avoid Enterprise (and Europcar). Both completely unreliable on one of the most stressful days of your life. Gallagher Van Hire were everything they weren’t — honest, helpful, and fast.

Van was okay and staff were okay and decently helpful and nice.

But they did not explain expenses correctly at all to me, offered me the service for them to fill the vehicle for the fuel I use and was told
I’d pay for the fuel I used and told nothing more, used 41 miles, 5.8 litres then charged me nearly £9 just as an admin fee to fill for fuel of roughly only £8.50 so charged nearly the same for an admin fee to fill up as the amount of fuel which this was not explained to me as if I was told of this I would of simply put fuel in myself.
Not happy about this.
To then get a phone call at 17:30 from enterprise simply just to give them a review but not just any review wanting me to in there words “leave them a 5 star review and say how amazing the staff and the service was as the staff there are going for a promotion” as said prior expenses not explained to me as the admin fees were not mentioned to me at all, and while staff were nice and reasonably helpful they did not do anything outstanding and simply did there job and provided a service that I paid for nothing outstanding or above and beyond.

I rented a van from Enterprise for a house clearance. Staff were super-friendly and helpful, can was excellent, and the pick-up and drop-off were quick, no fuss, no trouble. Fully recommended ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I would like to file a complaint regarding my unsatisfactory experience with one of the employees at the mentioned branch.

I had booked a car with your company three weeks in advance of the pickup date, and I made sure to arrive on time — in fact, I arrived 50 minutes early after traveling a long distance from Colchester using an Uber, which cost me £45.

Upon arrival, the employee asked me for a credit card. I presented an official card that I have previously used at several car rental offices across the UK without any issues. However, the employee acted in an uncomfortable and suspicious manner, as if he did not want to hand over the car. He told me the card was not accepted and insisted on a UK-issued credit card. I then gave him a Revolut Visa card, but he also rejected it and apologized, saying he could not proceed with the rental.

What was particularly concerning is that after I left the office, I saw someone enter, shake hands with the same employee, and then receive the very car I had reserved — which suggests there was a prior arrangement between them.

I paid for a car upfront went to pick it up and was told I wasn't on the electoral roll and told i couldn't have the car. which I am because iv been voting in local elections and general election and was told the money would be refunded. over a month now and still they haven't paid it into my bank account. If you are going to do checks like this do it before the payment. My driving licence got my address on but apparently that's not proof where I live how is being on the electoral register proof you still living at that address or they don't ask for a dvl code so they can check what points you got if any or if you are banned from driving and not handed your licence in to dvl does make any sense. But making a fuss over electoral roll which isn't proof you still live at that address you could of moved out a month ago.

Terrible experience. CREDIT CARD ONLY. You are told this on arrival only. No way around it. Will not give out head office details but will fob off with 0800 number. Unable to find my details despite two previous rentals and couldn't cope with spelling names correctly. A complete shower.
