We rented a BMW 1 Series from your Edinburgh branch for our 4-day trip to Scotland, which was a little surprise getaway for my partner.

First of all, we want to highlight that our experience was very positive. The car we had booked was exactly the one we received, and the staff member handling the paperwork was very friendly and patient. We had some difficulties communicating in English, but he took the time to explain everything clearly, and we even used Google Translate to help. The vehicle inspection before departure was thorough, and we set off feeling confident, ready to explore Edinburgh, the Highlands, and Glasgow.

The car itself was perfect, and we encountered no issues during our trip. A special mention goes to the heated seats, which were absolutely essential!

The only downside was the return process. We parked the car in the designated drop-off area and were gathering our belongings from the trunk when a staff member arrived to inspect the vehicle. However, the inspection was done without us, and we did not sign anything to confirm the return. We were simply told that this was the standard procedure if the car was returned in perfect condition. While we understand this policy, it still left us feeling a bit uneasy, as not signing anything means we have no direct proof of the vehicle’s proper return.

Apart from this, our experience with Arnold Clark was excellent, and we really appreciated the free shuttle service to the airport, which made our return journey very smooth. However, we are not completely satisfied with the return policy, which felt a bit too rushed.

Transport from airport to car rental location was easy and fast. Getting the car was also easy and the staff was very nice.

Got a pretty new car that was clean and everything at or above expectations.

After 2 hours after pickup the car warned for low oil levels. Called emergency breakdown service and got very good assistance. We were in Sterling and got directed to an Arnold Clarke service center that quickly topped off the oil. Again, the staff was super nice and helpful. Except the man on the emergnecy breakdown phone was a bit rude and hushed me all the time when I was answering his questions.

It did however cost us some time and caused a bit of stress. The oil levels should and could be controlled before being rented by customer to avoid situations like this. Other than this incident we did not have any issues with the car.

Overall would recommend and would hire again from this rental service.

I had an excellent experience with this rent-a-car service! The car pick-up and drop-off were incredibly quick and smooth, with no unnecessary waiting. The staff was very friendly and professional, making the whole process easy and pleasant. There was also a great selection of cars to choose from, all in excellent condition.

They offer their own shuttle service to and from the airport, which was very convenient and ran on time.

Highly recommended – I would definitely use their services again!

Amazingly smooth service at Edinburgh airport. Shuttle bus was waiting for us, 5 minute journey to the office. Clean professional office with tea and coffee facilities. We were checked in by a super friendly, efficient and helpful guy called Jahrred. Car is perfect, great price, condition and handover was very thorough. Highly recommend.

We rented a car and the pickup experience was great the staff were all very friendly and helpful.

However, the drop-off was a completely different story. We were told there was damage to the tire and that we’d have to pay for it. Thankfully, I had taken a full video of the car when we picked it up the day before. That video clearly showed the tire was already damaged when we received the car.

Without that video, we would have been charged £200 for something we didn’t do. What’s worse we didn’t even receive an apology for the mistake. It makes me wonder how many others end up paying for pre-existing damage simply because they don’t have proof.

My advice: if you rent a car from this company, make sure to take a full video of the vehicle when you pick it up. Document everything. It could save you a lot of stress and money.

Excellent car hiring experience from start to finish.
Hired with Arnold Clark as they had the best prices without a mileage limit for our 3 days travelling in and around the Scottish Highlands. They upgraded us from a Ford Fiesta to a brand new 25 plate Nissan Juke.
It was fab!
Aimed at Edinburgh hire office was so helpful in sorting the bits I'd forgotten to do, like get the code!

Arnold Clark was fantastic! Easy to use, friendly staff, super helpful (since I was coming from America they gave me driving tips to help me stay safe on the road) and somehow the best price! They made our stay in Scotland so enjoyable. The SUV we rented had a full sunroof, a nice big screen for navigation and could fit all our luggage. I cannot recommend Arnold Clark highly enough, especially for international travelers
