Went to see Shakespeare at the Towers. What a great venue for the annual play. The Towers is a beautiful and interesting historical place. Plenty of room for car parking, picnic area and slightly more room for the play as their annual venue now.

I simply happened to step into this tranquil oasis! This enchanting historical site boasts stunning grounds, perfect for wellbeing retreats, workshops, or simply a peaceful escape. Imagine yoga sessions amidst the trees, or mindfulness walks through lush gardens. A hidden gem waiting to be discovered more, in my opinion. Looking forward to a live Shakespeare event this year.

Lovely walking around the grounds but there's nothing else on site really AND it's quite a journey by public transport..........the nearby hotels & pubs look good!

We visited Buckden towers for a fete with a small car show, we didn't enter any of the buildings but we did stroll the grounds as well as visiting the fete.
We went to display our purple supra Sachi, but we enjoyed the craft stalls, the food vans, the live music and the gardens.
The ornamental gardens are well kept, the walled vegetable was growing a lot of produce but was functional rather that for show.
The building has so interesting history with many a famous people staying there since 1186.
The building is quite ornate and has made use of over fired bricks to form patterns in the brickwork of the building, you can get guided tours with more info on the building if you pre book before visiting.
Sadly there's the remains of a giant 150 year old redwood Infront of the building that has been cut down, the stump is still quite impressive and gives a clue to how mighty the tree must have been.
The rear garden has various trees leading down to a pond, there are some old fruit trees mainly apple but some medlar trees that bear fruit know by the crude name of monkeys bum these can be eaten but are an old fruit not seen much these days.
In the formal garden there are box hedges scented climbers fig trees some old fashioned pear trees and hop and grape vines.
The fete was by the farmers market and craft stalls, there were only 15 show cars there.
An interesting place to visit if you are passing.

I’ve lived in the village for over 50 years but still love seeing this place. The buildings are fantastic and worth a visit as well as the Knot Garden. My favourite is a walk around the grounds including the lake which is buzzing with wildlife and takes you away from the hassle and bustle of life for a while.

Great historic find on my own doorstep. Very well maintained famous past residents include Catherine of Aragon. I went for the Shakespeare at the tower outdoor performance which is now held there every June.

Terrific performance of Twelfth Night at Buckden Towers. Majestic setting for the play plus plentiful free parking and loos. The play itself was excellently well produced and acted.

We have recently held our Allett Lawn Academy at Buckden Towers. WOW what a venue! It was everything we could have hoped for. The staff were super friendly throughout and super helpful all the way through from initial booking to the event day. Gill was amazing in the office. We held our theory part of the course in one of the rooms and had our break times in the refectory.
The fridge was stocked with cold drinks for us and there was plenty of tea, coffee and drinks facilities as well as some fruit. It was a super hot day so a water dispenser was very well appreciated which was well topped up.

Food- what can we say! It was incredible! Plenty of it and super tasty with loads of different hot and cold options which was great for a hot day. We cannot thank the chef enough for her hard work on the day and we had some amazing comments from our attendees on the lunch! The best we have had at one of our events yet!

The venue is old as you would imagine - thats part of the beauty of it but its a gorgeous venue which should be used alot more by businesses for meetings etc. We would definitely return!
