Kiosk-sized, but well stocked fundraising shop for the RNLI, located on the steep hillside overlooking Walton Pier. The red-brick building is interesting for its display of local mariners' information, including a barometer & high tide clock. Wall boards list every single call out attended by the numerous Walton lifeboats over the decades, ranging from the mundane to those that hit the headlines & became the stuff of local legend. There's a separate plaque that was presented by Harp Beat magazine on behalf of the pirate radio ships, London & Caroline, once moored nearby in North Sea international waters. Both stations required their DJs to be rescued on several occasions, & had to be attended to by lifeboat crews during worst weather incidents . (Actually a more interesting visit than the RNLI museum up the road that only opens once in a blue moon/appears to be closed...)
