I took a star off for the ridiculously high entry fee. It is a bit better than some similar museums, partly due to the whapping great locomotive and good display style. We were served by lovely volunteers, making the fees even more hard to swallow. Most 'competitors' are free entry! I can imagine that locals and schools etc pay little but putting the burden on outsiders is even more unfair. If you value it so, pay for it, Tiverton.

We stopped here to break up a long journey for our 9 month old baby on the way to visit a family friend and how glad we are we did! It's hard to find places that are good for babies but this was fabulous. The museeum was very interesting with lots for me and my husband to see and there were so many toys for our baby to play with and interesting items to interact with. Would highly recommend to anyone with young children.

I love coming here with my 4 year old. All the volunteers are very friendly and welcoming. There are lots of different areas for little ones to play whilst you look around, and you can borrow a backpack with activities, or even a ride on toy.
Children get to go in free, and I have a yearly pass that allows me free entry - but we do give a donation each time because the museum is run by a charity.
It's well worth a visit, with lots to look at and lots of things to keep little ones entertained.

I didn't expect much of this small museum, but how wrong I was.
Much bigger than I thought and with an incredible amount of exhibits. There's even a steam locomotive in a large shed in the courtyard. I didn't allow enough time, so will definitely be back. The volunteers deserve credit for a tidy and well organised museum space.
There is a council car park (Becks Square) right outside the museum.

Fantastic museum - it packs in a lot with the full range of history represented. I learned a lot about local history and the origins of some words we use everyday. Loved the range of items and the stories they told. Really enjoyable and great little shop too. Lots of activities for children so would recommend for families as well as anyone with an interest in the history of the area.

Visited with my mum.
We spent a happy hour looking at charming items from local history, learning about the wool and clothiers trade, and how it formed the Tiverton we see today.
We loved the cart collection.
There seemed to be a lot of interactive to keep kids interested .
The staff were lovely.

We had a great time at the museum on a rainy Easter holiday day. There seems to be something for kids in every room - colouring, dressing up, Lego, etc. it took us much longer than expected to get round. Don't miss the Tivvy Bumper through the courtyard! You can go in and really pull the cord for a steam engine whistle!
