The drivers are rude and gritty, I got off the X1 bus near stenness to visit my friend. But the driver got on at me for stopping the bus “in the middle of nowhere”! The buses operate on a hail and ride service, so I can get off whenever I like thank you very much!
As a local In Orkney I am ashamed we have stagecoach as a bus company.

If you are going to run a service follow your timetable or post a note on FB that it's not running. 1st timetabled bus never appeared, had to wait for the next one an hour later. How fortunate it was warm and dry! No wonder hardly anyone uses this unreliable service - oh, hold on... the cruise liner passengers are far more lucrative so use buses for them instead of timetabled services. As I don't use the bus often - I wonder why? - I didn't know how awful the service was, it's now been explained to me.

Excellent service provided by the X1 Kirkwall to Stromness bus drivers on a regular basis - they are always attentive to individual customer needs and I've regularly seen these guys (and girl) giving timetable and route advice to tourists over the last two years I've been using this service.

The drivers have helped me out on a few occasions too when the bus has been re-routed by advising me of, and dropping me at, the nearest point (even when it wasn't an actual bus stop) to my destination.

Well Done all of you! Keep up the good work.

On 4th June we went on the bus number KT11 from Kirkwall at a cost of £21.00 per person. We had 8 years previously done the same tour. On this occasion the “tour” was literally a bus ride, driven at high speeds, along narrow and winding roads. There was no commentary the driver telling us nothing. A total waste of money. Today spoke to customer services and made some suggestions as to aboard stating the location etc and was told they are looking into that. As there were three of us, we should have booked a local taxi …….

Pricy, Always late and unreliable. The bus driver didn't stop at the bus stop though i waved at him and shouted loud. it was the last bus so ended up stuck in town that night. The office did not care much when i made a complaint. Looking back at previous reviews it seems this is yet unsolved problem with the drivers.

Well I just got stranded in finstowns bcos the bus driver left early and when I tried to wave him down so he would stop he just kept going and that was the last bus so thank you for your fantastic service stagecoach, absolute joke
