A great place to visit and explore both the quaint town and views from the lake. Boat and cruise tickets are available from an office at the pier. There are 3 separate routes available and as the spring season has just begun, boats run regularly between Ambleside and Windermere. Stop off is possible at Brockhole pier by arrangement. March is a great time to visit or arrange a getaway to Ambleside as it is not busy. Best to avoid during peak season, at all costs and where possible!
The boat captains, assistants and ticket office staff are all very helpful and friendly, they give great advice and are happy to help with any questions or queries you may have about the pier trips and local areas.

Staff so helpful finding us the best tickets for what we wanted to do, even telling us to hang onto our ticket for a discount at another attraction. Boats clean and lots of information given whilst on the trip. Great way to see the lake, even if a little chilly the day we went!

Loved it. Great way to enjoy your trip to Ambleside. It's about 35 min ride. Comfortable ferry with enough space inside. They offer coffee and non alcohol beverages inside, too. Friendly staff.

We spent just a day in the Ullswater lake. All the park is Gorgeous, but next time I ll make sure be there at least a week !!! There's too much to see !

The service was running on time, and the boats are well kept and tidy (the larger boats used are very spacious inside, which my dog appreciated on his first ever cruise).

It goes without saying, the views are brilliant, and I was pleasantly surprised by the price of the drinks and snacks onboard. £5 for a pint and £1 for Scampi Fries on a boat in a very high tourist area, with the operating costs these boats will have, is really not bad at all!

We had an issue with our tickets being printed, but the staff across the service were understanding and helped us where they could.
