UNBEATABLE riding holiday!

My friend and I did the Hay Triangle this June (in an exceptional sunny and beautiful week, luck us;) and all I can say is that this was just an unbeatable riding experience! To sum up the riding at Transwales; beautiful and very lovable horses, fast and exhilarating gallops, a lot of fun, small groups, beautiful scenery and a very welcome pint at the end of the day in a lovely pub to top it all off;) Rosie, our guide during the trail, made it feel like riding with a group of very good friends from minute 1 (as did the rest of our fun group:)) and is one of the most skilled riders I ever met! (not to forget, she makes the most brilliant gallop videos, my dad actually thought the video was filmed by a drone haha). The welcome we got from Paul & Emily at their beautiful home (surrounded by all sorts of animals, big and small and a very cute lamb) was second to none and the cake Emily made us on the last day was an unbeatable culinary experience in itself 😊Love the fact that you get to saddle your horse/take care of them after the ride to really have a chance to bond, I definitely wish I could have fit Ruby in my suitcase when we had to leave, what an amazing and sweet horse.. Will definitely be back next year for more riding fun next year and hopefully the epic Transwales Trail!

Lots of love,
your new Dutch fans 🙂

Recently did the Llantony Loop over a weekend- it was just the best experience ever! stunning scenery, fantastic horses, lovely group of people and brilliant organisation by the team at trans Wales. Also done a few day rides which are just as enjoyable. I have enjoyed riding here so much I don't think anywhere else is ever going to live up to it! can't wait to ride with them again!

My niece and I are still high from an incredible riding weekend with TransWales. Both ex horse owners and were apprehensive regarding a riding holiday and the allocation of horses. We were not disappointed. The horses are wonderful and well matched to your ability. I rode Echo, a gelding shy of 16 hands. He was forward going, sensible and perfectly behaved on the ground. There is a small amount of lane riding to get up into the mountains. The views across the black mountains are incredible, with plenty of wide open spaces for fast canters and gallops. The horses all go up and a gear. A lot of fun! These home bred section D horses are superb, not your regular riding school types, they can really move - but do have a sensible head on them. The pub lunches and picnics were delicious and a well deserved break for both horse and rider. After your first day riding, we arrived at the horse’s overnight yard in Hay-on-Wye, untack, sponge down, feed and turn our your horse. It’s all a great bonding experience. 5 minute walk to our overnight accommodation at The old Black Lion in Hay (we were doing the Hay loop so overnighted away from the yard). We were served a fantastic dinner and breakfast. Day 2 another fab day of riding through wonderful countryside, then back to Transwales yard. We rode with a great bunch, not only from the Uk but Australia and the U.S.A. A massive THANK YOU to our lead rider Kirsty, who goes out her way to ensure everyone has the best experience, also thank you to owners Paul and Laura.

If you’re thinking of a riding weekend/holiday with TRANSWALES just do it, you will not be disappointed.

Such a magical trip. As some of Trans Wales’ first guests for the new ‘Takeaway Riding Weekend’, planned in compliance with all the latest covid rules, we were made to feel instantly at home by Emily and Paul. Having been out of the saddle for a few years due to injury, I was a little apprehensive, but I needn’t have worried - our horses were friendly, eager and sure-footed, with bundles of personality - this certainly isn’t the typical ‘trekking centre’. Our wonderful guide Kirsty squeezed in a jam-packed two days of mountain-top views and gallops along the foothills, and after a few hours in the saddle, it was a joy to throw ourselves into life on the yard. The accommodation was perfect, the food delicious (they catered brilliantly for dietary requirements), and even the weather was spectacular. It’s a special place - we’ll be back sooner than we imagined! Thank you for having us, Beanie x

Have visited many times, the first time in 1978. Horses bred on the farm and trained for the job, riders matched individually with a horse. Best place ever ❤️
