A brilliant day out. From the visitor centre you can walk a few trails with stunning views of the dams and Elan Valley. Lots of picnic benches at the beginning of the yellow trail and a few near the visitor centre & playground. Parking all day costs £3. There is a cafe that is very reasonably priced with indoor & outdoor seating by children’s playground, an exhibition room and gift shop. We completed a 5 mile walk and half of it was uphill, it was worth it to see the views. There is also an easy flat walk and path starts by the children’s playground area behind the visitor centre. It looked accessible to prams & wheelchairs.

Lovely place to visit. My wife and I took our 2 dogs on the "Around Caban" Trail. Was around 4 hours long and some of the views were amazing. Not local to the area so needed help in the visitor centre before we got going, staff very helpful. Highly recommend visiting of nearby.

Lovely place to visit nice views. The water wasn't going over the dam as low water levels but still nice to see and the running water by the visitor centre. Lovely tea and cakes and good price. 1 hour free parking .

Great place to stop off for a walk. The reservoir walk is mostly flat other than getting up to start it. Good selection of walking routes. Centre itself is very nice. Exceptionally clean toilets. Little cafe and gift shop. Also £3 all day parking is very well priced and 60mins free. Well worth the drive up to claerwen dam if you don't manage to walk that far very impressive! Also there's additional toilets at that area as well with loads of free parking just be beware of rogue sheep!

Stayed locally at an Air BnB, Good Friday and Easter Saturday we visited the Elan Valley reservoirs. Both days we arrived around 11am and the car park was quite empty.
You have to enter your reg number but you get 60 mi s free or all day for £3.

We walked around the Caban reservoir route keeping the water on our left. We are glad we walked this way round. It's a strenuous walk of about 8 miles.

Scenery is amazing,

We started at the Visitors Center, as this was the only place to purchase the car park ticket for the whole Elan Estate (parking for all of the dams). It was free for one hour or only £3 for all day. Fantastic value as we spent several hours driving and walking around each dam.

Great place to visit, loads to see & do. Fortunate enough to do the Dam Tour & see inside & outside of Pen Y Garreg plus the mountain drive was absolutely stunning.

My wife and I spent about 3 hours visiting the dams here. Amazing structures in beautiful surroundings. We underestimated the size of the area and ended up driving around in the dark. Visitor centre is good, clean toilets and a cafe which we didn't use. Good maps (free) with more information available for a small fee. Highly recommend.
