A great tour, delivered with typical local humour that means it's fab for young, old and those with an engineering interest or not.
Ryan and Bill were our tour guides today, and their delivery was superb, keeping everyone interested and informed.
The tunnel, built in the 1939s was an "engineering marvel" at the time, and the architectural features inside and out are oozing 1930s deco style.
The tour takes you to the old control room, past the ventilation fans and under the roadway.
There are a fair few steps, so bring your walking legs. Fascinating to learn that all those familiar waterfront buildings were built on top of former docks.
And for those interested in the engineering, look out for famous British names such as English Electric, David Brown, Metropolitan Vickers.
A great tour "off the beaten track".
But you'll likely have to book well in advance.
Highly recommended.

Had an amazing time visiting the ventilation shaft in the Queensway tunnel. A great testimonial of engineering marvel that dates back to the 1920s. A big shout out to Bill & Ryan, two well-prepared and friendly tour guides.

Phil and John were fantastic guides and delivered a very professional, informative and funny tour, getting to see behind the scenes and learn all the history of the tunnel was great! You get to see the old control room, the extraction fans, beneath the vehicle deck, in the refuges and also in the live vehicle tunnel itself - loads!

Well recommended as something a bit different to do and was well worth the money. Also had a great selection of the cheapest and most interesting postcards in town!

Would recommend everyone to have look behind the scenes to see all the hardwork to keep the tunnels flowing safely. Definitely put your hat ? on saved me from a sore head at one point my fault to busy asking questions like I said very interesting. Give it a go if you’ve not don’t it before.

Great tour from start to finish.
We were met by our tour guides Phil and Ryan who worked as a double act making the tour informative and funny in places but imparting information of the tunnel its history and make up.
The trip is just over 2 hours and flys.
There are a number of steps but lifts to parts.
Well worth the visit and the price

Absolutely brilliant tour, fascinating with brilliant tour guides (Ryan and John) who had great local knowledge and did a fantastic job of sharing that knowledge for locals and tourists alike. If you get offered a trip in the lift take it: there's a lot of steps and Ryan will love you being his lift buddy. If you like quirky juxtapositions of history, architecture, feats of engineering and modern transportation with guides who genuinely love what they do it'll be the best tour you do in Liverpool. Watch out for the Liver bird eggs!
