Absolutely first class service from James at Electrimech from first contact to end of project.. He managed to fit my camper in to his already busy workload to fully re-fit the whole electric system before my holiday! He kept me informed of progress and delivered a system which is truly superb! I can’t recommend his services enough and explanations and follow up support is the best out there. I couldn’t be happier with my new power setup – but the process revealed something quite concerning.
I first contacted James in the summer of 2024 regarding some battery issues. I was new to motorhome ownership and had recently invested a significant amount in a converted Iveco. From the very first call, James was incredibly generous with his time, offering far more guidance than he probably should have.
Given my limited knowledge of motorhome power systems, I decided to attend one of James’ workshops – and I’m so glad I did. The day was fantastic. I learned so much, asked plenty of questions, and quickly realised just how little I actually knew. At the end of the workshop, James took a look at my van and provided a quote for the system I wanted. Unfortunately, the extensive rust issues on my van meant I had much bigger (and more expensive) problems to tackle first.
Fast forward six months, half a new chassis, and a substantially lighter wallet, and I was finally ready to get back to James to install a new, high-powered off-grid system. This setup would allow me to work online for my business while travelling across Europe. What James delivered was absolutely outstanding – he went above and beyond in every way.
Below is our new system: a Fogstar 628Ah lithium battery, flexible solar panels for my curved roof, and a full Victron setup. It’s an absolute game-changer for our off-grid lifestyle!
But… there was some bad news – and we’re incredibly grateful we took our van to James before it was too late.
During the installation, James discovered multiple critical issues with the existing setup – not only were they incorrectly installed, but they were dangerously unsafe. He found that our system wasn’t properly earthed, meaning that using the inverter could have easily led to a major fire. The EHU (electric hook-up) on the outside of the vehicle was rusted, and the wiring was loose – with live and earth wires just millimetres apart!
Realising that we had been driving around in a vehicle that was completely and utterly unsafe – one of the worst cases James had ever seen – left us feeling both sick and relieved. I dread to think how many other dangerously wired self-builds are out there.
Please, do yourself a favour and get Electrimech to check your vehicle. It’s seriously not worth the risk.

Attended Electric Workshop on 8/3/25 what an experience, the full day Workshop is full of good information on electrical safety based on years of experience and training as well as gas safety, maintenance and much more. James did not shy away from any questions and answered all with confidence, the way the session is laid out there is no information overload but time to digest each subject. I thoroughly enjoy my day there I learnt a great deal and would highly recommend a Workshop to anyone with a recreational vehicle to know how to maintain or update your vehicle.

Attended a workshop run by James this week, the workshop was extremely informative and covered a lot of information that is perfect for those who are new to camper vans and electrics or those who have vans and are not fully confident in their abilities with Safety, Maintaince, Electrics the list goes on. The workshop was small in number and made the experience more personal and James was extremely patient with everyone’s questions (there was a lot of them), he took the time to answer everyone in depth and in a manner that it was easy to understand. It’s a full day workshop but you are treated to a wonderful lunch before you crack back on with the learning. Good value for money for anyone interested where to start with their van or to learn more about a van you already have.
