As a family we are in Shirebrook Valley most weeks, it's an amazing place on our door step. There are natural areas to explore, streams, trees to climb. We take the dogs regularly and I often run through with my running group. There are picnic areas and a stepped amphitheatre to enjoy in the sunshine. Lots of ponds to encourage wildlife and I have seen many birds, rabbits, insects, trees and even a grass snake. If you go after rain be prepared to get muddy! There are bins for general waste and dog poo bags in the car park and near that gate - please use them. The area is kept beautifully by the rangers and a team of volunteers so let keep this a beautiful place.

There is a notice board in the car park showing some run routes and distances, there are marked out through out the nature reserve so keep an eye out for them.

Today's the day the Teddy Bear's have their picnic.
11am to 1pm.
Come along and enjoy the event with lots of teddies and tots to make new friends with.

Great place to relax walk and enjoy the birdsong. Excellent for dog walking but please please please be a responsible dog owner and clean up after your pet. Doggie poo can cause really bad conditions in eyes and children play and sit on the grass.
There are a number of Ranger lead events throughout the summer, including a 'teddy bears picnic.

I hope some of you managed to visit Shirebrook over the summer.

The autumn has come very quickly with it some beautiful colours from the leaves on the trees.

There has been a bumper crop of blackberries, and if you know where to look rosy apple's available which make for a great combo in pies or crumbles.

Visited yesterday and sad not to hear the sound of children playing in the woods, it's half term it's free, get the kids coats and wellies on and enjoy the country side on your doorstep.

Orienteering event. Weather was awful. Rain, rain, then more rain. Very muddy off the main tracks. I bloody loved it. I've said this before, but Sheffield shpuld be very proud of its parks. Well done Sheffield.

Didn't hate it but it is never open. There is a warning letter in the post box that their electricity will be cut off. We'll at least we didn't have to pay for parking!
