Brilliant kayak tours of a beautiful river estuary. The tours go at slack water or follow the tides and so the paddling is easy. Expert tour guides (Clair and Oscar) meant that we learned so much about the history and the local nature. Thanks!

Super helpful from start to finish. There were no tours available on the website during our stay in Fowey so I decided to message using the number on the website. We managed to book a Kayak to take out on the river on our own within minutes of chatting to Clair,who was super helpful and friendly.
The hub/ cafe is next to the river with plenty of parking spaces. The river itself if beautiful and so peaceful. This was my 2nd time using Encounter Cornwall and wouldn't hesitate to use again. If you're looking to get out on the water in a Kyak (or paddleboar)this is your place. Thank you Clair.

Cannot recommend this place enough, absolutely FANTASTIC! I booked a private SUP for myself and my partner as he has fears around water and I have a health condition.

We felt at ease the moment we arrived, Clair who was teaching us was so welcoming. The Boatshed itself is also warm and welcoming: easy to find, snacks/drinks available to buy, seats, storage space.

Once we started our lesson, Clair spent a good amount of time reassuring my partner to build his confidence, breaking down the basics for him with plenty of practise.

The whole time Clair was providing tips, going through techniques until we could do them and I could not believe that within 20minutes into the lesson, Clair had my partner stood on his paddleboard!

The experience itself is in a beautiful and safe setting and a perfect location to learn or gain new skills on the water.

Amazing experience. These trips are more about enjoying the stunning estuary and the nature. We have been on eight tours in the last four years and seen kingfishers, seals, redwing, curlew, starfish, jellyfish, kestrels...the list goes on. The river is calm which makes the paddling easy, the instructors are great and the trips tend to revolve around a short stop on Fowey or Lerryn. Highly recommended!

My brother and I did a paddleboard tour. I had done quite a lot of paddling before, but my brother was a complete newbie. With Ben's guidance, my brother was standing in no time and for the duration of the tour. The tour was really informative with local knowledge being shared. It also had a good balance of challenge and enjoyment, and was well paced. The opportunity to grab an ice cream in Fowey before paddling back to Golant was really welcome on a pretty warm day. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who is interested in paddleboarding! We really enjoyed the tour and would happily do it again. Ben mentioned that there are other routes we could paddle if we wanted to do any other tours in the future.

We had a Stand Up Paddleboard lesson with Phil this afternoon & had a really enjoyable time. Having never done it before we had an introduction on land and were soon out on the water and getting the hang of paddling kneeling down. The moment of truth soon came with the standing up bit! We both managed it and before long were out paddling in the Fowey Estuary. Amazingly we did manage to stay dry for the full lesson & got to try out Phil's ocean touring board too. Both in our 60's ...... never to old to try something new .... give it a go !

Our visit was fantastic, well prepared and very well managed. The instructors were extremely kind and interesting as well, it was so much fun chatting to them while heading down the river.

What a wonderful experience! I went paddle boarding for the first time today with Clair and Sal. I was put at ease straight away and thoroughly enjoyed my time on the water. Safety and theory was done in the boathouse and then we went out onto the water where two instructors looked after six of us really well. I felt safe and even though it was a group session I felt personally looked after. Brilliant place, can't recommend enough!
