Sunday roast to die for!!!
We visited this restaurant for the first time yesterday and can safely say that the Sunday carvery was one of the best we’ve ever had! The meat was cooked to perfection, the vegetables were all fresh and tasty and the potatoes were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside! My children both thoroughly enjoyed theirs and even went up for seconds! Empty plates all round! The restaurant has the most beautiful view and staff were all super friendly and helpful. The chefs in particular were all very welcoming and friendly. We can’t wait to visit again. We’d highly recommend!

The hotel was good value for money. The breakfast and evening meal was superb with a good choice of food. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable. The good blackout curtains were pointless as the room has an emergency light over the door which was extremely bright. Remember to bring eye coverings. The shower was very good with plenty of hotwater. Apart from emergency lighting had an Enjoyable stay.

Popped in for lunch yesterday, just after 1pm. Was direct to the Brasserie with fantastic view over the river. We were very well served by Izzy & Harry, top service from these two. We both had the burger. Possibly the best burger I've ever had. (Go for the blue cheese, you'll love it!)
The dessert was amazing. I had the cinnamon roll honeybun cheesecake (recommended by Izzy) and my wife had the Eton mess, which she loved.
Our only slight criticism (hence 4 stars) was the service time. Over 40 minutes for the main and nearly half an hour for dessert. BUT, this has not put us off planning to visit again in the next month or so.

Comfortable room with balcony overlooking harbour, great location and views.Bathroom too cramped for my wife who kept talking about a cat! Really good dining and bar, reasonable prices. I leave the best to last, excellent service from the entire hotel team, energetic, efficient and friendly. Special praise and appreciation for the "Black Country Lass" Sharon, rarely have we experienced such outstanding service, she contributed so much to making our first visit to Looe very special.

Had looked at this hotel several times pre booking but thought it looked further away from the quay, shops/restaurants/bars & beach for my mum to get to on our mini road tour. How wrong was I ?! |Rang & spoke to Stacey, she couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful if she tried, so I booked it and what a good decision that was!! |From arriving to leaving, all the staff..Stacey, Emma, Henry & Sam were all funny, caring and helpful. I even got balloons and a birthday card on the bed when we got in the room, a lovely surprise ! Breakfast was scrummy the next morning too, well cooked and good quality. |So a big ‘thank you’ to all the team, you made our stay great in a beautiful location!! We will definitely be back 😁

Stayed here for 2 nights end of Jan, room were spotless, with a good supply of tea and coffee, TV with good selection of channels. We had Bed breakfast and evening meal Breakfast was buffet style with a good selection of food available, dinner was absolutely superb, compliments to the chef and his team, waiters and waitresses very attentive and helpful, and the manager runs things very smoothly. Would definitely stay here again

We live locally and are regulars at many of the eateries in town, but the Sunday Carvery at the Portbyhan simply cannot be beaten!||On a grey day in January, it is such a pleasure to be welcomed by a friendly team, always happy and obviously enjoy their work. The setting is magical, alongside the river overlooking the boats and harbour. We have sat many times in the main restaurant, but today chose the Brasserie on one of the new high tables, and what a view! The brasserie has been recently refurbished and is stylish and modern but comfortable and welcoming.||The food is exceptional, the quality of the meats is first class. They obviously buy high quality emat, but it is cooked to perfection every time, offering a choice of both rare and well done beef, honey glazed gammon and roast turkey, they are all delicious. Then a wide selection of fresh vegetables, again perfectly cooked and presented. The kitchen team have high standards and are obviously proud of their food offering, rightly so.||I cannot recommend the Portbyhan highly enough. If you haven’t tried it yet, you better phone ahead to book as they are often sold out.||Thank you team at the Portbyhan once again.
