Called here as was nearby at a Garden centre unfortunately closed due to repairs on lift. We managed to speak to a very helpful member of staff who explained the lift was in the process of being repaired thankfully he let me get a couple of pics from a safe distance will call again when fully functioning.

Historic site, with a lot of engineering and family stories in it.
The staff vell prepared, ready to help, and get the most out of the tour.
Anyone can see the structure from the field below, but the boat trip is highly recommended, since its a fun and interactive thing.
Recommended to couples, families with kids and elderly.
A great day out,and after all, enjoy a meal in their own restaurant, wile the kids can play around.

Arrived in time for the 11:15 boat trip and was lucky enough to have a couple of spaces available. We started at the top of the boat lift and went down to the river. There was an excellent commentator on board who kept us entertained with facts and figures for the entire journey. We were allowed our dog on the boat as we were in the cafe in the visitor centre. A clean and tidy environment for a superb visitor experience. The is a huge car park within 200m of the boat lift at £3 for the day. We walked up towards the Anderton Marina and had a delicious meal in The Moorings restaurant overlooking the marina itself. Again dog friendly. Well worth a visit!

Fantastic day out. Really well thought out attraction that is suitable for all age groups. The boat trip is informative throughout and the lift is quite spectacular. I'd recommend going on the first trip at 10.00 as it's very quiet (just 8 people on the one we booked) and as a bonus also slightly cheaper at £10 each. Make sure you watch the 'Showtime' TV programme that's located in the main building, it's hilarious. Reasonably priced large car park, plenty of picnic benches and things to keep children entertained.

We had a fabulous afternoon by the canal and river. We went on the boat trip that took us up the river to Northwich, then back to go up the lift. (Approx 1 hour trip.)
You're not aware you're going up as it's such a smooth operation.
You can't see much either as the sides are too big.
But it's an amazing piece of engineering.
The staff on board (Martin and Dave) are so knowledgeable of the local history that filled the journey with interesting snippets.
The overall facilities of the boatlift and visiting centre are excellent. The cafe serves a variety of sandwiches and snacks.
Our trip was at 13:30, which started on the river, so we made our way down the path to get the boat. Then it ended up on the upper canal, so we didn't have to climb back up the path. Everywhere only has gentle slopes, so it's not too bad anyway, but it is worth planning if you have medium to poor mobility.
We had great weather too - I couldn't have planned a better day for messing about on the river.

A very interesting place to visit with something for all the family. The parking is good, and the Café is very nice with a balcony/terrace with a superb view of the Boat Lift and the River Weaver. The Museum is very interesting as is the boat trip itself along the River Weaver, which goes as far as Northwich and back. A great day out indeed!
