I had a wonderful walking ride with my 11-year-old-son who is experienced in horseback riding while I‘m a novice. My husband and other son walked with us, that was quite a hike. But they also enjoyed the great landscape and took pictures. The guide was very nice and took care of every individual (there was another mom with her 5-year-old son). The horses were great, it was a wonderful experience!

Had a great time on the 1 hour beginners ride with my 2 children, both inexperienced riders..very welcoming and relaxed stables . great ponies and amazing views .Good communication and polite owner/staff..We will be back.

Rode with my 2 children at Shilstone Rocks, it was amazing! We were greeted cheerfully, process explained, could borrow hats and boots if needed, then we were assessed for safety in the school before going up on the moor on 3 lovely ponies. The moor riding was brilliant, great scenery and views, the heather and gorse gorgeous colours! Our ride was just us 3 which was a huge treat, and all fun but super safe, no mum anxiety! The ponies were well behaved and in great condition, happy to go out. I went riding there 30 years ago and it’s every bit as good now, such a treat to be able to experience the same with my kids. 100% recommend!

Went her for a 1 hour hack today, lovely people and horses were really well behaved (Winston and River Song). Beautiful walk across the moors with Coryn who was a very nice and knowledgeable lady, about the animals and the area. She made our experience more enjoyable and relaxed.

Fabulous two hour ride in Dartmoor whilst visiting the area for a few days. The weather was great, countryside was stunning and the horse was perfect. The stables know their horses well and so matched me to exactly what I needed- gentle, sure-footed and happy to walk or canter as directed. Thank you!

Rang up and booked a 1hr hack for my 2 kids 9 and 6, beginner riders who had done only 1 session before now. The person from Shilstone Rocks was amazing. She got the kids settled on the horses and walked with them for the ride, guiding the horses. A couple of more experienced riders came along too, a kid and a grown up and their horses were not led. It was really really good, definitely recommend. It's so hard to find pony trek where you don't need to have experience of riding already. This setting was lovely on Dartmoor, part road and part on the moors. Hooray and thanks so much 🐴🐴

Just had a lovely 2 hour ride across the moors with Shilstone Rocks stables. The yard has a really nice atmosphere and Maria, our guide, was lovely - attentive, instructive and chatty. The horses are well cared for in an environment as close to their own natural environment as possible. We had a walking ride, as my son-in-law had never been on a horse before, and even though I'm an experienced rider it was a delightful two hours. What can be better than two hours on a horse wandering across Dartmoor (well maybe 3 hours!!). I would recommend this stable to anybody of any ability. I'm looking forward to coming back and going out on a more advanced ride. Thank you Maria and Shilstone Rocks Riding Centre

Update: Managed to have the experience in the end and we did enjoy it so thank you for that! The horses are absolutely beautiful and easy going (especially for beginners like myself).

Had a voucher last year, booked the experience and I was more than excited to enjoy it! They’ve cancelled few days before the experience and extended my voucher for another year simply because they couldn’t book me in before the expiration date (fair enough).

This year, I have tried to book the experience since March and we are in May now. Emails, phone calls, voice mails… no answer at all. Not sure if they are even on the market anymore?

I did request either to have the experience or a full refund, again no answer…
