We went on the highly recommended guided tour with our excellent guide Gemma. Without the guide you won’t get the full story and may see things in the wrong order so for a little bit extra it’s worth paying for the 2hr guide

This is easy .. fantastic hotel, everything is quality... Very comfortable room, amazing bathroom's ... Breakfast was outstanding top quality ingredients..all the staff are very polite & helpful and the prison tour is worth every penny especially if you stay the night you get the tour for £9, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and a really nice guy .... It was a fantastic stay and one we will definitely repeat 👏👏👏👏

We arrived at Bodmin Jail with “self-guided” tickets, but after seeing that we were only a handful of people without the “guided” tickets, decided to upgrade our tickets. The staff were extremely helpful in doing this for us.

We walked out of the tour, and both said we are so glad we upgraded our tickets. Our tour guide Tom was excellent, funny, engaging and really knowledgable about the area and the Jail, especially as (he told us that) he’d only lived in the area for 6/7 months or so.

Overall, a great way to spend 3 hours or so. I’d highly recommend upgrading to do the tour, I’m so glad that we did.

Had an impromptu visit to the hotel for coffee. This turned into a personal tour of the hotel by a couple of the very friendly staff members. We then had the intended coffee and decided to make a full morning and visited the Jail Attraction. It’s really compelling, great visuals and a lot of personal stories of inmates - few happy endings to be honest. But a lot of history and very well presented.

Tourist trap of note. Very cheesy "4D" experience with lots of decorations and not much in the way of useful information.

High admission prices and a Cafe charging a fortune for mediocre food and coffee, with easily one of the worst gift shops I've seen in a while, leaning so heavily on the "haunted" bit it was cringeworthy (Selling Ouija boards and pots with Pentagrams on it was especially weak). The staff are friendly and kind though.

Would not recommend.

We booked a guided tour of the Bodmin jail attraction at a additional price add on price to our stay at the hotel. The tour was very interesting and the tour guide Tom was very informative and friendly & funny! He made made the visit to the Bodmin jail attraction a much greater experience from start to finish.
I'd recommend going to the attraction 100% and if you can having Tom as your tour guide 😊 Thank you so much.

Absolutely incredible experience. Staff were so polite (especially Tom on the front desk) and it was a very impressive experience. It looks so high budget and it’s so well planned and thought out, especially paying attention to the quality of life that the prisons faced.

They offer a variety of different attractions too so there is a lot of value in attending again, which we definitely will do!

This is one of the best heritage guided tours we have ever been on,Bex the tour guide was so knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting and enjoyable Bodmin Jail is an amazing building and well worth a visit,I highly recommend to all.
