I can't recommend this riding school enough! After being out of the saddle for over 10 years, I was nervous about getting back into it but thanks to Meg, my confidence has come back in no time. She's absolutely brilliant, friendly, supportive, and incredibly knowledgeable. I've come on leaps and bounds in such a short space of time, all because of her fantastic teaching.
The whole team is equally lovely and welcoming, and the school has a great variety of horses to suit all levels of experience. They regularly assess your riding and gently challenge you to improve, which has really helped me progress.
All in all, I can't fault the place. If you're thinking of getting into riding, or back into it, this is the place to go!

I had a great time at Glen Jakes Riding School, I highly recommend this place for those who are passionate about learning horse riding, excellent riding school, the instructors are very helpful and professional.

Glen Jakes is an amazing riding school, they cater to everyone be it kids, adults, kids & adults with disabilities (both physical disabilities and learning disabilities); everyone from beginners to advanced riders. They also do walk outs and hacks along with making your lessons interesting and never putting you out of your comfort zone but as they get to know you learning how much they can push you.

I myself am 35 years old, I have M.E (some people know it as chronic fatigue syndrome) along with some other medical issues and while the pandemic was happening I became very isolated and now deal with depression and fairly severe social anxiety. I made the school aware of these issues when I decided to start riding again after having to stop riding when I was younger due to my disability and chronic pain. I can say it was absolutely the best decision I have made! Everyone I have met is super welcoming. They don’t make you feel like your stupid for forgetting something that I once new how to do. They are also super understanding that new skills can take me a while to learn as my body has to adapt slightly differently and learn it a little slower sometimes especially as how I feel week to week can change due to the nature of my disabilities.
I HAVE to give a Big shout out to Olivia, Lauren & Meg who I have had the awesome opportunity to have as instructors!!!! They do all have slightly different styles of teaching but every week I go I always feel like the lesson was interesting and fun but always come away feeling like I’ve accomplished something. I want to give a special shout out to Olivia for the lesson had this past Thursday riding Macc the gentlest of gentle giants and such a sweet horse, @ 16.1hh he is the biggest horse I have ridden and whilst working on my rising trot she new when to push me a little, was super encouraging and her method of teaching really worked for me. When I finished that lesson I had wanted it it to continue as I felt my self confidence was improving as well as the skills we were working on were improving and came away super enthusiastic and looking forward to my next lesson. Thank you all the staff at the school for making me feel welcome, for always making sure I’m comfortable and for always make me feel like you have both my safety and the horses safety as the top focus.

The Horses always seem happy & cheeky, very well cared for and I look forward to hopefully having a chance to take part in their stable management course so I can learn more about the ins and outs of equestrian care and stable management as in my opinion the have it down to an art.

Excellent riding school!! The instructors are very professional and patient. My daughter has been riding here for a year and is really happy. We have been to a couple of other riding schools, both of which gave my daughter a fear of cantering. Since we've been coming to Glen Jakes, Meg and Lauren have given my daughter her confidence back. All the horse are lovely and well-cared for and the safety of the riders and horses is the top priority.
I can thoroughly recommend Glen Jakes for riding lessons of any age and ability.

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing Glen Jakes Riding School, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. The instructors were incredibly knowledgeable and patient, creating a supportive environment for me as I am new to riding. The horses were well-trained and cared for, making my lesson enjoyable and safe. The facilities were spacious, and the whole atmosphere was welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend Glen Jakes to anyone looking for a fun day out in Stockport or to hone their riding skills.

I initially bought my granddaughter an introductory lesson here then added the same for my grandson. Went last Saturday 13th July. Brilliant from start to finish. 30 minutes in the paddock followed by a 30 minute ride out. Great staff who were very helpful and supportive. Layla and Joshua loved it that much that they want to go again (their mum and dad can start paying now)
