Live here and the outlying villages are lovely, the town centre is like any seaside town. Not keen personally.

Cafe, stone cold food after being β€œwarmed”. Platform staff/ conductor extremely disrespectful as we were a family with two young toddlers trying to rush for the train with a lot of cases. He proceeds to shout at us telling us to hurry up and then tells the driver to drive away leaving us on the platform. The train was at 12:29 we were trying to get in the train at 12:28. He was no help at all extremely rude.

Absolutely useless, apart from trains being frequently cancelled the station itself is just locked on Sunday morning at 7am making it impossible to collect anything from Amazon Locker which is listed as accessible 24h. Both main entrance and side gates locked despite trains being listed on the boards to leave just now.

Based on the recent refurbishment.

A perfectly good entrance has been removed and turned into a locked emergency exit.
So you are channelled through the front entrance which is lethal underfoot when it's been raining.
Probably better to add another few minutes to your travel plans though as sometimes the front entrance is firmly locked if the staff take the key home. (I kid you not)

Roof leaks.
Large pools of water throughout the concourse when it rains, so take care.

You can't buy a paper.
You can't buy a coffee.
You can't go to the toilet.
Sometimes you will struggle to buy a ticket.

Pros:

Thankfully you can get on a train!
Which will at least take you away from this miserable hole of a station.
A terminus that truly captures the term 'End of the line!'

Nice high street for shops, plenty of places to eat, also not far from the beach & a lovely walk along sea front.

Following its recent refurbishment the station looks cleaner and more welcoming. However, gone is the coffee shop on the station and the toilets were locked, making it difficult for my two daughters. Luckily, or train came in so they used the toilet on that instead. The staff, in the station, weren't particularly welcoming, either.

Horrible, I've never walked into a station with so many drunks and drugged up people hovering around the entrance/exit, not good for local tourism or lone travellers. ticket office closes too early. staff are more interested on their phones than helping paying customers or cleaning the rubbish strewn around the station "it's not my job" attitude everywhere.
