This is by far the nicest and best run heritage railway I visited in the UK & elsewhere. They run regular services with good frequency and have a variety of well kept rolling stock, some of which is 100+ years old. The location is also perfect, with beautiful countryside, cliff and sea views. You can also enjoy the view of trains from many of the hiking paths in the area.

I visited the railway during school break last week and it was easy to buy the ticket online on the same day and just hop into the next train. I like that all tickets are day passes, it makes it easy to spontaneously stop in various towns to explore and to visit the museum along the way.

Quick tip, if you can, catch the train from Holt to Sheringham, it's then only a couple of minutes walk to the shops and seafront...

Fabulous day out from Holt to Sherringham. We loved the trains, one journey steam, with return on a gkass fronted diesel. We found everyone friendly, and the stations kept well with lots of nostalgic memorabilia. The ride is short but enjoyable with beautiful scenery, especially as the coast comes into sight 😀 would highly recommend if you are in the area x

Great family day out and experience! What a lovely way to spend our first time on a steam train. Superb views of the Norfolk coast and friendly service. If only the commute to work was this pleasant!

Lovely to see steam trains in action. The staff were friendly, the carriages were clean and it was a very pleasant day out. I'd thoroughly recommend a trip but be warned, it's not cheap. Check prices before turning up, especially if you have kids.

Great day out on the rover ticket, not a cheap train journey (if you use it to just go from a to b), but if you regard it as a day out and use trains a few times it’s fun, and you can ride multiple engines on a vintage event.

We went from Holt and then had lunch in Sheringham.

Kids loved it, staff very friendly l, knowledgeable and look great in period uniform.

steam train as it should be, available every day, short but enough, all the stops and stations were amazing all coming together so well because of genuine appreciation for the old days of steam by all generations in this area. it produces a lot of smiles and waves even from those playing golf at sheringham.
