Fountains Abbey is set in beautiful grounds joining vast water gardens. The pathways aound the site is ideal for pushchairs and makes for easy walking cafes and water points. Very dog friendly (must be on a lead). You can easily spend all day here. Wonderful place

Fountains Abbey beautiful place. Lovely staff and volunteers. Only offering in visitors centre for gluten free in cakes was a fruit scone. Which to be fair was nice. The mill cafe had sandwiches which they would get out of the fridge and packaged cakes (which I could get from Aldi) so doesn't inspire. I know a big part of N T visits is having homemade cakes and scones so a little revisit to that would be welcome, hence only giving 4 stars especially as we then went to the garden centre nursery on the way back to Ripon and found 8 choices of gluten free tray bakes! Sadly because I had eaten we didn't have any but it is very easy to do if you care. But a great place to visit

Fountains Abbey is a nice place for a gentle stroll. Often has nice tray bakes. May have some activities on for children and has an excellent play park. The Abbey can be good for kids to explore too.

Very, very helpful staff, especially to the more senior visitors or who mobility issues. A free bus service on request from the bottom near the abbeys West gate, back up the hill to the visitors centre. Very informative and the cafe service was excellent.

Want to have a walk in the fresh air, surrounded by beautiful views, this is the place to go
With 3 places to my knowledge, to sit and have a cuppa, or enjoy a snack, a great place to visit.
Plenty to see with Studley , a place to go for a free walk or sit and have a picnic in the summer right next to. There is a fee for parking, which I think is approximately 6£, and is free to those with national heritage.
Fountains Abbey is £ 18 entry and free to those with national heritage

this was one of the nicest and picturesque park runs i have been on.
I know this a review for the abbey but we did the park run here.
parking was free and so was getting in we just had to gone before 1030 for the main visitor attractions but running around the abbey was one of nicest places I had done this and i don't really like running at the best of times. there is a steep 10 min walk to to the run start and a good talk before hand as a lot are first timers. the café is open for food and coffee afterwards nice touch. parking is great and well signposted on entering the grounds.

Shop contains several gift suggestions suitable for a variety of people across different age groups. A walk around the grounds (additional charge payable / National Trust members free) in autumn is especially rewarding if autumnal colours are your thing.

Fountains Abbey is steeped in history going back hundreds of years, and the amazing remains give you a real sense of that history. The gardens and deer park are also lovely places to walk around as well. A well stocked National Trust shop with all the usual NT stuff on sale, a large restaurant is also available , and there are also tea rooms in the gardens. Ample parking and free entry for NT members. This place is a must to visit. It's a full day out for all the family .
