We’ve just come back from an amazing week in Yan! Having never driven a camper I was a bit apprehensive but I spoke with Caitlin and exchanged a few emails before booking - she was super helpful and the whole process was easy. Before the trip she sent me some instructional videos so I knew exactly what to expect and there was also a helpful manual. Once I got going, all my worries subsided! Yan was awesome to drive and it was fantastic to have everything you need in terms of cooking facilities, and everything off grid. We loved every minute and no doubt we will be back in the future!

I took out Xanthos for my dog to have a holiday while I waited on - or so it seemed! It was our second van trip, and much bigger than our.prior rental. I’d been anxious about driving a 6M van, but I soon got the hang on the main roads, then some practice on smaller Scottish roads! It was a great interior set up for dogs as they can travel with a harness and dog seat belt in the front, or travel securely in the back.The wooden slats wouldn’t allow a dog through, to the cab so the driver is safe from interference either way.

We loved the homely rustic interior snd being able to open the rear doors to see the morning waterside view from our site. The only thing in that regard was if on your own with a dog, negotiating the climb back into bed with a cuppa was a bit tricky! A little shelf attachment would work, but I decided to put the bread board over a basket in the cubby, and it stuck out far enough to make a shelf!

We loved the wood panelled interior. The weather was hot, but it seemed like the wood created an insulated space stopping too much sun heating up the van. It worked for us with the dog on trips out. You can also switch on the inverter and put the fan on if you have to leave your dog in the vehicle. .

The way the bed worked was good as it was big enough in the day for lounging on, but became s full comfy double at night. The solid roof meant we were warm all night, though it was good weather. Xanthos was lovely as night with the dimming lights and fairy lights on. Very pretty and restful.
I took all my own bedding and extra mats snd blankets to stop dog hair getting everywhere in the van. It made it easier to clean also.
There was lots of fresh water on board and a big canister for the grey water. I didn’t use the inverter much, just to charge my aging phone on a fast charger and to use the fan for the dog, though that would prob have been ok on the leisure batteries. .

I did take a mobile EHU to plug in on site as I was anxious about having enough electricity. Xanthos is completely off grid and we didn’t have any issues with that.
I’d have preferred to have a fridge rather than a cool box, but the ice blocks I took worked fine. That’s just s personal choice.

All in all, a fabulous big yellow bus for our fist 6M van trial.

I hired Wensley, the yellow Renault van for a weekend of camping in the Lake District early August 2023.
Tom and Caitlin made the booking process very easy with good clear communication along with directions as to where to collect the van.
I had never driven a camper or van before and found Wensleydale very easy to drive - just like a big car really. Wensley navigated the country lanes without difficulty.
Now to the camping. The van had a sofa which converted to a very comfy double bed. I had a really good sleep. The kitchen placed at the rest of the van meant it could be used from the outside. I had everything I needed including camping chairs in the roof box and enough electricity for lights and to charge my phone. It felt very homely and cosy with beautiful wood furniture throughout.
I loved this van - it was perfect just for me or it would be ideal for a couple.

Wensley was great fun and the perfect size for my dog and I. I was able to drive around the Lake District no problem. Also, Caitlin couldn’t have been more helpful and responsive to all my question. I really enjoyed myself and wouldn’t hesitate to use them Contour Camper an Rental again!

Recently rented Yan the Van for the long weekend. Great van, well stocked with equipment and finished to a high standard. Easy pick up and drop off, and great videos explaining how to use the vans various features. Allowed us to spend a weekend up in the Lakes and bag some more Wainwrights!
