came across today at 12.10pm approx travelling towards Dunham there was a1 car in left bay noyhing in right or centre bay...as I approached the barrier in front of car lifted and light turned to green. I pulled up behind it, expected it to move it didnt.. I sat there 2 cars went through the centre booth the driver and the woman in the booth were chatting and laughing after between 2 and 3 minutes by my car clock he drove off I gave a blast on my car horn to emphasis my disproval and was greeted with verbal abuse from the female operative for not being patient...Ok I use the Toll 3 or 4 times a month generally I have to que often behind lefthand drive vehicles but when I approach as the front vehicle of any que has a green light I donot expect to wait whilst the driver chats with the female operative for 2plus minutes NO EXCUSE

My mate has just used this bridge and was so impressed with it , he rang me to tell me! It was only FIFTY PENCE to use , and this is amazing considering when it first opened in 1814 (having replaced a ferry service) it was half a crown (12.5p) which according to the Bank of England inflation calculator, is the equivalent to EIGHT POUNDS in 2024. So not only is it a lovely historic site , it is an inflation busting one too ! It also saves a loooong north or south detour. Best toll bridge in the UK? It has to be up there !

At 5am recently I was lost in bad weather after driving all night. Their card scanner didn't recognise my Barclaycard Visa was only one card, and the toll guy wouldn't try another card, so I had to scramble around looking for cash. Not impressed after driving all through Europe from Ukraine. Welcome home to the 19th century

Usually not an unpleasant experience but….there are a couple of generally unfriendly, brusque and rude toll collectors. I could name names but naturally I shall refrain.
Also, I learned recently that the bridge charges ambulances to cross!!!. Admittedly not the emergency vehicles but the ones ferrying the sick/ill folks to and from hospitals for their treatment!.
Surely this cannot be morally correct?. Shameful behaviour.

Usually I have absolutely no problem however today there had been an accident and so I had to go round all the villages, traffic was horrendous with HGVs doing the same. Men / women usually very polite when taking money. Only 50p to get over the bridge.

Rip-off. Someone is living the high life off this scam. Paid £1 to go over bridge in a 5m camper when it's only £1.50 to go over Humber Bridge!
Only went over to go to White Swan a few hundred yards away. That was shut although it said it was open on the Internet. On the way back a grumpy, barely comprehensible bearded chap took another £1.
