We had to stay here because the owners said they were selling up but now I believe the son and his wife are going to take the job on. Loved the room and the shower also had a sea view!

If you want a bland corporate hotel with all the associated modern hotel facilities, then this isn't the hotel for you.

If you want to step out of the hustle and bustle of the modern world into one of times gone by, then this is the perfect hotel. Relax in style and take in the best possible sea view, super home cooking and friendly staff who are only too glad to help. The beds are extremely comfortable and you can sleep to the sound of the waves lapping the shore.

The character of this hotel is wonderful.

If you want a totally relaxing stay, the very best sea views, a wonderful step back in time, the comfiest beds and the best breakfast, set within a beautiful village then the one and only Guardian-recommended, Victoria-style B and B is one of IOW's hidden gems. Truly loved our stay in this quirky hotel, facing the beautiful beach with a wonderful green space facing Portsmouth. Steps down to the beach and regular swimmers meet to the left at the bench who were friendly and welcoming. Lovely hotel, steeped in history and time, with a wonderful staff team, great breakfasts and a range of rooms (some being upgraded) to cater for different needs. Very restorative, and quirky as we needed much rest and nurture. They also do cream teas and have table tennis 🙂

Wonderful Solent views from front bedrooms. Don't panic about some rooms not being en-suite as the bathrooms are immaculately maintained and provided for and some have been beautifully refurbished. More en-suite rooms are being created but the retro feel of the bar, the lounge and other communal parts remain. Breakfasts have excellent freshly prepared elements and service is quick and flexible. If you have a front facing room, there is an ever changing view of passing container and cruise ships. Across the road is a community shop which stocks fresh and local treats. The same hands on family ownership has prevailed for more than half a century but that has not inhibited inspired investment in improvements whilst keeping the retro character.

We hadn't planned to stop here, but so glad we did. On the coastal path between Bembridge and Seaview, we saw that the garden was open, and was serving drinks and coffee. It was delicious, and the most fabulous views! Will definitely go back hopefully when they are fully open. Extraordinary and wonderful.

We have stayed in Seaview many times and the Northbank was certainly one of the most enjoyable stays. Quirky and quaint and nothing was too much trouble. The sea views were brilliant, including during our splendid breakfasts, and its located right in the heart of the village. Will be returning!

We were well looked after and accommodated at this charming hotel. We were a big group with bikes and were likely a bit of a handful, but nothing was too much trouble. Lovely garden and bar overlooking the sea. Enjoyed a post-ride drink with one of the hosts, Mark. Many thanks.
