Headwater is my go to 'active' holiday company. I've experienced over 10 holidays now with Headwater and every one has been outstanding. Take a look at feefo and trustpilot for a more balanced view. My particular holiday favourites were Bermuda and Amalfi, both walking and cycling trips are organised wonderfully and the team are very attentive to our needs - highly recommend.

Very expensive. Poor service.
Support on our walking tour near Bordeaux almost non-existent. Travel arrangements awful. Taxi transfers were late. Walking routes were not great (better walking guides available for free on the internet). Some of the accommodation was OK but some was poor and overcharged or "not as advertised". You can do a lot better.

Did an overpriced cycling tour of Champagne region in France. Overpromised, undelivered. So many criticisms, too boring to read. Badly organised, confusing, eg, forced to purchase cycling helmets, as travelling from Australia, could not bring our own. Then after we purchased, local operator offered us helmets (another 100 euro wasted). Give Headwater a miss and book a tour yourself use Komoot app. Which rate same rides as expert, and Headwater rated moderate.

Not sure we would use this company again for a cycling trip. Some aspects were a let down, particularly when it is not a cheap holiday. We upgraded to 4* hotels but the majority were poor and by UK standards 3* at the very most. Often the rooms were dingy and very basic. We spoke to the office in the UK about one of the more disappointing rooms and Paula from Customer Service was understanding and helpful. We emailed some photos but didn't get a reply (as yet - maybe one on way). Weather was poor most of the week (obviously no-one's fault!), but on arrival at one hotel in particular we arrived dripping wet and cold and subsequently waited for the receptionist to finish her phone call before checking us in. We were told there was nowhere to dry our clothes. Surely this should be a prerequisite? We called the local agent one day as one of our bikes was making a strange noise. Was pretty sure it was nothing to worry about, and it righted itself, but surely a return phone call would have been a nice touch? The chap from Puglia Cycle Tours who did our induction on Day 1 was very nice and helpful.
Navigation app was good. Routes were nice, on the whole. Beautiful part of Italy, just a shame about the accommodation.

Very disappointed with the poor presentation of my quote for a holiday in Malta which had errors and was not easy to follow. Also found the price extremely expensive. I booked essentially the same holiday independently for less than half the price. I understand this is a sister company of Exodus. If I was the CEO of Exodus, I would be worried

WE had a terrible experience with overcharging on the taxis and issues with tax on our hotel bill together with the charge of our hotel meals that was to be included.
We are due compensation after 6 weeks we still haven,t been paid.
Looks like i will have to take them to a small claims court.
It is shocking behavior.

Organisation pre-departure was very chaotic and stressful, which was concerning. Most of the trip was organised, apart from being sent to an incorrect hotel one evening, as they had changed the booking without telling us. Bike hire quality was fairly poor - badly maintained bikes and my chain snapped one ride leaving us in the midday heat which was not great and delayed us getting to our destination. The route was good for 4/6 days, average for 1 day and awful for one day - I am unsure why this route was picked really. Overall, we enjoyed our holiday as 4/6 days were great but there are definitely parts we feel should have been much better and could be improved.
