Let me be absolutely clear - this review relates to Seal's Bay which is just one of the seven available apartments at Farne House. So, maybe we just got lucky with Seal's Bay, or maybe some of the one star ratings for other units are unbelievably harsh and unfair.||This was also a Covid-19 visit and so the pool (which seems to have niggled some previous visitors) was not available.||Seal's Bay is on two floors and would easily sleep 4 but for a couple is magnificently spacious. If there is a better view in Britain from a lounge window then I would love to see it. Bamburgh Castle, Lindesfarne, The Farne Islands, The Longstone Lighthouse, a working fishing harbour, two beautiful beer gardens and sea-birds galore on the rocks below. And THE best view of the glorious sunset - see photos.||Like so many holiday cottages, the furniture, fixtures and fittings are dated BUT everything was clean, comfortable and in full working order. The kitchen in particular is very well equipped and spacious.||Farne House is a very short walk to any of the amenities in Seahouses.||There is plenty of parking in the courtyard. If it was full, then it might get tight and you might even have to work with neighbors to shuffle cars but parking is at a premium all over Seahouses so really a non-issue.||We hadn't twigged that there is no wi-fi available, which could be an issue for some folk but we have 4G and a hotspot so no problem but you should be aware of this as it's something which we all tend to take for granted these days.||Northumberland was absolutely beautiful and Seal's Bay was an ideal place to stay.

Don't know why there are so many negative reviews of this accommodation when it offers a great view over Seahouses harbour and a swimming pool to use. As a couple who like to birdwatch AND swim, what more could we need, Yes, the decor is a little dated, and the "hospitality" may be minimal, but in such a great location, and with a pool too, why should anyone expect more? We had a great weekl and have already booked to come again...... Some thing we have NEVER done before.

Just spent a week at Harbour Heights apartment in Farne House. It was clean and comfortable with amazing views over the harbour. The apartment is a bit tired and could do with some updating but this didn't cause us any issues. We stayed during Covid-19 so the swimming pool was not available. The parking could do with being marked out as with seven cars it was a bit car park jenga.

Apart from the view ( which is wonderful) this place desperately needs refurbishing . The lighting is 60s style and very dim ,the bathroom needs a complete overhaul , very difficult to flush!'the. Toilet and NO shower! The kitchen also very dark with very old cupboards. Wardrobe doors don't shut and all carpets and flooring sadly in need of replacing,didn't feel clean. Apart from the view there's a swimming pool plus and the beds and linen were quite adequate. Wouldn't go back not even for the view!

Stayed at Waters Edge, a three bedroom apartment. To say we were disappointed was an understatement, luxury self catering apartment is advertised, trading standards should be informed!!! Tiny kitchen how you could cater for 6 is beyond me, upstairs shower room very small with electric shower(poor flow of water), wc and whb connected to saniflo with a sign warning of the fact that it is easily blocked and could take days to get a plumber to fix, very noisy in operation ie don't flush through the night will waken everybody that is if they actually get to sleep as 2 of the bedrooms are above the pool area and associated plant room which drones 24hrs a day. The master en suite is downstairs with great views out over the harbour and Farne Islands, however, there is a public footpath directly outside which is used from early morning to late at night so blinds stay shut, double bed was like a concrete block. All doors in the property are glass panelled with netting fixed on. No privacy again. The only saving grace was the view from the living room picture window an absolute joy to be able to sit and watch the coming and going from the harbour and the dolphins and seals further out.||Used the pool once, firstly you are asked to shower before entering water but both showers have signs on stating do not use as thermostats are broken and water is scalding hot!!! water in pool was cold. As we had booked through Hoseasons emailed a short complaint after office hours and received a reply by about 10am the following day stating that they had been in touch with the owners who stated that both showers were fully operative and water temperature was 80degrees, went to check to find the warning signs still in place and water still cold, thermometer showed air temperature of 82 degrees and when placed in water and left for a couple of hours this showed water temperature of 82 degrees(faulty thermometer).||The final nail in the coffin is the charge/contribution note that is left (£43 for Waters Edge) to cover for maintenance and use of power for pool and communal areas. A joke when place is so run down. A For Sale sign is fixed to the building so very little money appears to be getting invested to maintain.

Seahouses is peaceful relaxing sea side town. the views to the Farne Islands are fantastic and that is what we saw from our lounge window in the cottage- Water's Edge part of the Farne House complex. With on site parking, an indoor pool you are are to a winner but and I am sad to say the cottage is tied. Wall paper pealing off, carpets old, worn and not fitting well add in an oven that to be honest should be scraped. I would like to think these will be addressed but Farne House is up for sale.||The cottage is spacious, well served with plenty of pots, pans, glasses and storage but tied. Enjoy the space, the location and eat out or get a takeaway.Location wise is great 5 mins to the Black Swan, 10 ins walk to town and the co op supermarket, All great but sorry the tiedness and the oven really did let it down. Take these facts on board. go eat out, enjoy the walks the peace and view and you will not do much better in Seahouses.

Excellent view of the harbour. Nice communal pool and sauna. Accommodation was very clean, but obviously has not been modernised for a long time, e.g. dated chintzy decor, not too comfortable mattresses, discoloured sofa/chair arms, control labels warn away on the oven. Self catering kitchen was well stocked, with washing machine, microwave, but no dish washer. On the whole it made a good base for looking around Northumberland.

A great spot. Tidy if old fashioned. Superb views. It is in a great location at a sensible price. Parking needs to be done carefully - reverse in. It is manageable. Our 2nd visit in 4 years. Very handy for all amenities and an excellent base for a few days in Northumberland.
