We were visiting relatives for the weekend and the location of the Travelodge was ideal. Rooms were spacious and warm and comfy bed. Nice hot shower too. Despite being near a main road it was not too noisy

Booked 2 nights for 21 December back in October 2024. Booking confirmed and paid for by us. Received usual Sedgefield Travelodge welcome email the day before. Left London and arrived after visiting family around 7.30pm on 21 December to find hotel shut (being refurbished from what we could see). Phone number on a piece of paper in window by door to reception. Turns out that Travelodge moved our booking to Darlington and had sent an email just after midnight on 21 December welcoming us to Darlington with no explanation or highlighting the change...an email we only read when we found Sedgefield shut. Sedgefield we have now discovered is not opening until February 2025. ||Appalling comms by Travelodge centrally. We were not the only ones as another couple had exactly the same experience on that same night when arriving at Sedgefield travelodge. They knew Sedgefield was closed, made no attempt to contact in advance, and took our money and moved our poking to a different hotel which was not located in a good place and we would have chosen Hartlepool if Travelodge had given us a choice. Their handling of our complaint was just as poor including quoting their T&C's as to why they could.mive our booking. I am sure there will be many who have suffered the same experience as Travelodge are being cynical by not contacting customers in advance for their booking for the Sedgefield Travelodge.

Everything could be fine but was cold in the room and heater was electronically blocked. We couldn't rise the temperature up.shoudnt be like that.

The price was excellent for the facilities. ||I arrived very late and the receptionist couldn't have been nicer or more helpful.||The room was well laid out and spacious and clean..||The bed was comfy although I found the pillow a little hard for my liking. Maybe worth packing your own pillow or asking at reception for a softer pillow.||Bathroom was very clean and spacious.||Really worth the money.

Dangerous - shower pissing water all over the bathroom floor due to holes in metal pipe (obviously been like that a while). Reported and customer service was shocking, no alternative washing facilities offered and refund offered was insulting.

Nice location - friendly & helpful receptionist

However, the downfall was the room and the cleaners sadly.

There was MOULD, dust and cobwebs by the side of the bed. Clearly it hadn’t been cleaned properly ( photos attached )

As well as this - the cleaners had no consideration at all for the customers. They were right outside the room early morning - being extremely loud, shouting on and swearing on at each other. I find this disgusting as customers could have still been sleeping. No consideration at all.

Nice little hotel with really friendly staff, asked us if we had been to the races and took a real interest. Room was nice enough, clean and functional but it was a hot day and the fan just wasn't quite cutting it. (I know the rooms don't have air con but it might be something to look into this day and age)
