Nice, if a little windy, walk up the promenade past colourful beach huts and Lido to the lighthouse. Appears to be lots of parking. Pretty quiet on a blowy October Sunday, but I can imagine it would be really busy on a lovely summer day.

Nice afternoon cycling. Crossed over the river on the ferry with our bikes from Point Clear. And had the best fish and chips @ Winkies, so fresh. They are up there as one of the best I have ever had. Not really touristy, but a nice quiet town.

A nice place to spend a couple of hours, couple of good places to eat, gentle walks that can go some distance the promenade is flat but further walk along the marsh area probably not suitable for mobility scooter, a community based lido with cafe, a small children play area, and some boat trips I believe are available.
There is some limited free parking in harbour area for 3hrs or some larger public parking for long stay, payment is by telephone 😡

Beautiful place!! We love love love Brightlingsea every part of it & so do the kids.
On a hot day the Lido is a must & crabbing is always fantastic guaranteed loads of crabs from the jetty.
The park this year has had a superb refurbishment and the kids spent hours playing on it.
Love the little safe beach area for the kids to splash around in and then we usually grab and icecream.

Having kept a boat in Brightlingsea for many years, we have now, with regret left for waters new.
Will miss the town and the many friends we have met there. The professional services we have used for boat maintenance and storage have been great as indeed have many of the pubs and restaurants we have enjoyed.
Our decision to leave has entirely been down to the poor communication and attitude we feel have we received from the harbour management. The harbour office customer service, in general, we have found year on year becoming increasingly poor.
We have found more and more frequently the senior management and their representatives aloof and indifferent.
This is in a big contrast to the service received from the harbour staff who do the "real work", i.e. the water taxi and the harbour launch staff who have been brilliant.
Feel sorry for visitors who seem to be coming to grief and going aground more often at low tides on the Brightlingsea Sailing Club side whilst we go past them even on the lowest tides on the Point Clear side. Please see photo attached.
Surely a harbour priding itself as a place to visit must have a better understanding of its leisure users than is being demonstrated to us at this present time.
Visited Brightlingsea yesterday and saw another yacht had come to grief, not sure of the reason why hope all were ok.
Dear harbourmaster, may we respectfully ask are the channel markers in the correct positions?

Lovely day out to Brightlingsea on a Sunday. Caught the foot passenger ferry from the beach at East Mersea, which was fun if a bit choppy. Lots going on in the town when we arrived as it was the annual ceremony of blessing the waters. As a result, the town was chock-a-block with civic dignatories in their robes.
Had excellent fish and chips in the fish and chips shop/ restaurant near the harbour and a pint at the local boozer.

A fantastic, accessible place to see the 'sea'. There's limited parking, but if a space is available, you can just sit and watch the water. There're several places nearby for food and drink, even a chip shop if you want to picnic in the car.
