Myself and my 12 year old son went kayaking yesterday for the first time ever. It was amazing!!!!. My son absolutely loved it. We see lots of different birds and even a few fish jumping. We went about 1.30pm so it wasn't too busy on the river. My son definitely wants to go again.

What a wonderful experience the "Sunset Paddle" was! Relaxing, joyous and a glorious time. Crystal clear water, watching the fish skit around, spotted a beaver busily munching on a branch, beautiful swans and stunning herons.... I missed the Kingfisher, but they were definitely around... The instructors were lovely, friendly and shared their knowledge of the area... Two an half hours of heaven... Thank you Canoe Wild absolutely BRILLIANT 👏

We booked our experience many months ago to ensure there was space as we were 4 families (16 in total), but all under one booking for ease. We were booked at 1330, arrived at Grove Ferry at 1300 as instructed, this is where the chaos began, there appeared to be one young girl doing all the work and several other boys just stood around watching her and making excuses not to assist in the trailer loading process. We waited for the mini bus and they split us up over 4 minibuses mixing us with other families, which made zero sense to anyone other than them it seemed. We did not get on the water until 1500.
The actual river is beautiful and it was an enjoyable route, it is such a shame that the stress of getting on the water dampened! It slightly.
When we arrived at the finish shock horror there was no member of staff to meet us, we shouted and waved like instructed, thankfully my wife had finished before us so had to come and assist myself and my son out of the boat. We then had to get someone to go and find a member of staff, as we were stuck holding the canoe.
But the major issue for us was we were told that we didn’t need to bring dry bags as they would provide one for each boat, also a map with the emergency number. Well we were there they said they only had one left (a second arrived) between the 5 boats, we had 2 people who needed their medication with them, so we couldn’t take a phone in our boat incase we capsized, so this meant that if we had gotten into trouble we would have been stuck and this could potentially have serious consequences, especially from a H&S aspect.
Points
- The company need more dry bags.
- I think the training of land-side staff needs improving for a more efficient service.
- Ensure there is someone on the finishing point watching out for guests arriving back.
- A safety boat constantly patrolling up and down the 8km stretch when they know they are busy and have guests on the water.

We had a fab time on the river, it was fun and good value the team instructed us well before we headed off and it was lovely to be able to take the dog (who surprisingly managed to be good and not tip us out of the boat).
