What a beautiful and peaceful place. I’ve loved Derek Jarman’s art and films for many years, and it was really special to visit Prospect Cottage’s garden and spend some time there. Dungeness is quite incredible - views of the desert, the sea and the power station. There’s a lovely pub, and a fish shop that smokes its own fish, about 10 min walk away. We got the 102 bus from Folkestone. Next time, I’ll take the miniature steam train.

Charming little cottage, the former home of artist Derek Jarman. The gardens are very nicely kept, with plenty of bright colourful flowers. The unique surroundings of wide open shingle beach overshadowed by the imposing nuclear power station make this a very memorable place.

A great place for contemplation and perspective. We park at the old lighthouse and then set off on a walk along the beach for about half an hour, before then walking inland to Prospect Cottage.

The garden around the cottage has many wooden and metal sculptures, that are scattered around the shingle.

Just be respectful of the current owners and admire the cottage itself (from a short distance) as a backdrop to the garden artworks.

Lovely place but missed a tour which was day before. Great gardens if shingle and the peppery herb smells are amazing

A walk past this fascinating home. We did not visit inside as we left it too late to book online. This forces us to plan better as there is so much more to see in the area.

Beautiful garden but remember this cottage is lived in and the owners can't enjoy people peering in the windows all day. Enjoy the garden but do respect the privacy of the owners

Striking building and garden and very informative tour. Only open for public visits on limited days per year - well worth booking a spot with Creative Folkestone.

Very vibey, especially on a grey, misty, rainy day like when we visited, with the ominous shape of Dungeness power station in the distance.
The former home of artist/director/film maker Derek Jarman, preserved since his death, featuring a wild seaside garden with lots of driftwood sculptures and circles of stones, very shamanic. One can wander around for free (respectfully) in the garden, but I really would love to see inside the cottage.
