Please support Canal & River Trust with small donations.
Lock 7 failed, causing the whole lock flight to close, fixing this cost millions of pounds, money the CRT struggled to find!
The lock flight is now open and is a nice test of your sailing ability. You can request a volunteer to help, if one of the kind men or women are free they can help you navigate the locks.

I actually had some decent weather which had been a scarcity recently so it always makes things nicer. The locks are quite close to each other but some of them lack adequate mooring points for a single handed boater. Other than that they are a well managed flight.

A beautiful quiet setting. The canal takes you to The Peak or head towards Manchester. Toilets for boaters with a sink to wash your hands. A place to fill up your water too but no shower facilities. A great place to moor up if you fancy the convenience of heading into Marple for the Asda. A great chippy and some take aways too!

Beautiful walk along on the tow path along Peak Forest Canal, Marple. Ideal for people who need a flat walk without too much up and down. The scene upfolds marvellously at every turns. Loved my 30 minutes walk today, will be back for more soon.

Lovely scenery here, been up the flight a couple of times now, helped by the lovely CRT volunteers led by Roger. Helped us get through double quick. A couple a leaky locks at the start, so watch out for those.

Nice section of the Peak Forest Canal. Hard work though, 16 deep locks in the pouring rain but we can cross it it off our narrowboating bucket list. A big contrast from Portland basin end of the Peak Forest Canal where the locals were fighting with the police and sitting by the canal openly doing drugs, to Marple end where families were picking blackberries and having picnics.

Went a trip on canal barge had a great time weather could of been better but a good time was had by all good food and excellent company been twice now with this company lovely people to deal with
