Stayed in a cottage at 24 Kirkgate Cockermouth, booked through Sykes Cottages. Bed had urine stains and smell on it and bedding clearly not fresh. Turned mattress over and was stained on the other side. Whole house smelt damp and cupboards had mould in. Owner of the property came when I was out and just sprayed air freshener. I stayed elsewhere as the bed was unsanitary. Refused any refund despite the terms and conditions having been broken. Was told to get a solicitor to go any further, which for £400 they know is not viable. Lost my money. Customer service on the phone didn’t want to know, never rang back when they said they would, nor did the staff at the Keswick shop care they just said anything to shut the conversation down, no interest or empathy in the fact it’s cost me £400 for a piss stained mouldy cottage that was unsanitary and not fit to stay in. In shock at how careless the service is and the lack of accountability. Has put me off ever renting a holiday cottage again. Shameless money draining.

Great apartment but toilet seat and lid hadn't been cleaned yuk. Duvets were obviously old. (Wished I'd checked before I used mine). Only discovered the problem when I stripped the bed when leaving.

We have been in keswick through the floods but had no contact about our welfare from this company at all they don't seem to bother at all dreadful to deal with never again
