This was our first visit to Ottertarn, and WOW! If you're considering a trip to the Lakes and seek a tranquil escape, this is the perfect spot. Although my young family made our stay a bit noisier than I'd hoped, it had nothing to do with the location.||We stayed in Toad Mire, with the lake as our backdrop. It was delightful to sit on the spacious veranda, watching fish leap from the water and swans teaching their young to fish.||The property itself was clean and well-equipped with everything we needed. The kitchen was spacious, the beds were comfortable, and the rain showers were a nice touch.||The highlight for my family was definitely the hot tub – the kids absolutely loved it.||Overall, the booking process was smooth, communication with the owners was excellent, and the location was easy to find. It's well worth a stay – you won't regret it.||Cartmel, the local town, was also very charming.

Just returned from a weeks stay at this beautiful place. First visit and we cannot recommend it enough. The lodge is complete luxury in every way, comfy beds, lovely bathrooms with great showers, beautifully decorated and private despite other lodges around you. The hot tub a wonderful bonus, total peace and tranquility. It is located close to all the main sites so great for seeing all the Lake District has to offer. Kath and John fantastic hosts and the Prosecco and biscuits as a welcome treat were much appreciated. You must stay here, we will hopefully be returning very soon.

My first time in the Lake District with family !||The word 'WOW' sums up the whole experience. We couldn't have asked for anything better !||'Amazing' accommodation in the most 'Perfect' & 'Idyllic' setting ! The location 'Dreams' are made of - 'Heaven on Earth' ?||We were blown away by this 'Gorgeous' property, surrounded by 'Beautiful' countryside. Pure bliss !||The ideal base for a stay in the Lakes. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners, Kath & John. A very friendly, kind & attentive couple who provided the ultimate 5* luxury holiday.||We would highly recommend 'Otter Tarn' to anyone. A destination you truly fall in love with ?

Spent another incredible week at Otter Tarn, lovely, comfortable accommodation set in amazing surroundings. The lodges are well appointed with everything you could ask for for a self catered stay. Such a great location as well with Lake Windermere and Cartmel close by and some lovely walks from your front door. The owners and staff on site are all very friendly and answer any questions or queries very quickly. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning again in the future.

We stayed in Billy Boo fir the weekend to celebrate my husband’s 60 birthday. The lodge was well appointed and to a very high spec with everything you need. ||Kath was very helpful with suggestions for the local area and check in etc. Everything went smoothly and we had a really lovely weekend although we were obsessed with watching the lawnmowers doing their work- they work very hard!

Our second visit; and it won't be our last. We stayed in Toad Mire; and it was absolutely beautiful. The accommodation is, as you would expect - beautiful, with outstanding views across the tarn. I could stand looking out all day.||Kath, was on hand, if we needed her and she was always very helpful with suggestions of walks ||I would highly recommend a visit to Otter Tarn - we are already looking forward to our return visit in December.

Wonderful 5* accommodation and location for a fantastic Lake District holiday. We stayed in Silly Knott which had a lawn at the back, backing on to a wooded hill. We saw foxes, deer, rabbits and hare from our bed. The ‘lakestead’ was fantastic - spotlessly clean, furnished with everything you could wish for - and a great place to relax after days hiking in the stunning Lake District, especially with the hot tub. The farm itself is worth a stroll, just up above the lakesteads are amazing views of the fells and of the tarn itself. We found some lovely local pubs and restaurants, on a bad weather day did the Haverthwaite steam railway and lake cruise, and on a good weather day had a 2h sailing experience with Sailing Windermere - this is recommended. All in all a wonderful holiday and we would not hesitate to come back to Otter Tarn.

We have been visiting Otter Tarn since 2018 and each time blows us away just like the first visit.
The peace and quiet here is unreal, if you're looking for somewhere to really really unwind then this is the place to stay.
There is so much space to explore sometimes it feels like you're the only person in earth, you can be relaxing in the hot tub as a Deer just walks on by into the woods.
The views are spectacular at Otter Tarn - zero light pollution makes the night sky look like you can touch the stars and if you're looking for something extra special then I recommend Toad Mire for your accommodation- it has a full lakeside view with sunrises that are spectacular.
We have stayed in a few various lodges at Otter Tarn and they are all the same layout and extremely high standard including wood burner, designer kitchens and underfloor heating - Our personal favourite is Horse Spout - with it's rear hot tub that we have found gets good shade in the afternoon on a sunny day!
